Yeah, let's wait and see how this plays out BUT their analytics not just since January but all season show a team that can't move the puck well and gets skated/outshot to death in their own zone on a nightly basis because they can't break the puck out.

They EASILY could have used assets to acquire both Seth Jones and Brandon Carlo rather than taking runs at Mikko Rantanen and Mikael Granlund. If you compare that potential roster to their current one at full health:

Robertson - Hintz - Rantanen
Marchment - Duchene - Granlund
Benn - Johnston - Seguin
Dadonov - Steel - Blackwell

Heiskanen - Lybushkin
Harley - Lindell
Smith - Ceci

vs

Robertson - Hintz - Johnston
Marchment - Duchene - Dadonov
Benn - Seguin - Borque
Beck - Steel - Blackwell

Heiskanen - Jones
Harley - Carlo
Lindell - Lybushkin

Sure, you're losing offense from Rantanen/Granlund but IMO that second roster is WAY more balanced.

Keep in mind they got Rantanen at $2.25m cap hit.

Jones, even with the retention Florida got, was $7m. Carlo was $3.5m to the Leafs with the retention they got.

Rantanen was the rare commodity at double retention.

No I understand that, but the Stars also acquired Granlund and Ceci during the season AND had Seguin come back for game 82 when they could have held him out until game 1 of the playoffs and spent a boatload of LTIR.

I don't think cap was the issue.

LMAO get absolutely f***ed Dallass. Galaxy brained yourselves by not resting starters.

Who did we have hurt last season at the very last game or so? Was that MacK? or someone got hurt and we were all complaining why did the management didn't allow to rest key players. Like we are doing now.

Edit, Lesson learned and not play star players in the last few games that don't even matter.

Think it might have been Drouin.

Honestly if they lose this series with the injuries Dallas has already I think I'd jump on the change of scenery for the coach bandwagon.

Stars are really beat up and playing horrible hockey down the stretch, Avs should pounce on them and make quick work quite frankly, but just winning even in 7 is acceptable if that's what it takes. But lose this one and its probably time for some fundamental changes.

Sean Shapiro said this on his Dallas podcast just now:

If that's true, Robertson is out at least games 1-3.

“If the series goes longer than a week…”

If the Avs lose in the first round, I maintain that a coaching change is all but inevitable. There will be MAJOR housecleaning taking place if that happens.

If it's the 2nd round, it might still happen, but it's not as surefire a guarantee.
