Ok but what does any of this have to do with DeBoer's teams preventing our defensemen from skating?

What works against the Avs doesn't work against every team. No other team use their dmen like we do, that's why we can have several small dmen at the same time while other teams don't want that.
If the Stars can't even get out of their own zone most of the game, how are they going to disrupt the Avs skating? The Avs are going to have the puck most of the time coming in fast on the Stars. The entire premise of DeBoer's system is built upon his forecheck - if his team can't even get pucks in to forecheck, what good is it? This is what Stars fans have noticed for months now, and why they almost unanimously want DeBoer fired (even though their anger should be directed towards Nill and the defensemen he signed/traded for).

My wife informed me last night that we have dinner previously scheduled with friends on Saturday night. I said, "Great. That's opening night of the playoffs for the Avs." She says, "Well, if you want to cancel, you can call and tell them you want to blow them off to watch a hockey game. We won't be able to meet up with them again until the middle of June."

I guess the good news is dinner is at 5, and the game won't start till almost 7. So, hopefully, I don't miss more than a period, if any of it.
My wife's cousin called and said "we should do something over the weekend since it's easter" and after what seemed like 10 phone calls back-and-forth trying to plan it, my wife responded "ok... bowling, Saturday night"... then I looked at her and gave her this 'Ain't no f***in' way' look and then she said "uh... Phil won't be there but that's ok"...

Damn right. She knows.

Atta boy, Phil.

IMO if Heisk doesn't come back until game 5 or 6 and Robertson is also out there are only two way the Stars can win this series:
1. Otty goes God-mode, and/or
2. Really bad turnovers from the Avs.

I'm fully ready to do the Saturday GDT. Full package ready to drop.

If that's okay...?

Same story here. Family dinner was being planned for Saturday and I said “ok, have fun everybody!” and next thing I know it’s planned for Friday lol.

I’m sure I’ll get ribbed on prioritizing hockey over it but they’re not wrong.

The wife knows hockey comes first. If there's ever a conflict, the Avs/my playing hockey takes priority.

It's why I married the woman lol.

My wife will do this with Football season. She knows not to schedule things on Saturdays in the fall, and will ask about what time games are if she wants to plan something. She's not as well-versed in Hockey, but getting there.

Success will additionally be measured when, not if, Beds sends Landy out on PP2 who sets up net front presence, Benn amps up his gooning because the lowercase stars are 3-1 down in the series, a light bulb clicks on in the Viking and he goes full 300 on captian crunchless and Thermopylae-zes the puke.

And yes, fully aware the Spartans end up losing (but large picture and save Democracy for western civilization), but am talking Day 1 of the campaign and unparalleled success.

Winners in bold.
You changed your Capitals prediction? I thought you hated them? I don't think you are entirely wrong. I feel like teams going into the playoffs cold never get anywhere. However, Habs are an awful road team and that should play in Washington's favour for the series.

The LA Kings have only lost 5 regulation games at home...the entire season. Besides McDrai, how will Edmonton be able to overcome that? Plus it's hard to beat the same damn team in the playoffs for a fourth straight season. I just can't see it, especially considering how bad the Oilers' defence and goaltending have been this year. Hard to see how they magically turn it on.

And yes, the Jets are losing to the Blues in the first round. That is as much of a certainty at this point.
