I'd say Edmonton is much better than all those teams.

Not even close IMO. Edmonton's goalies are dog shit. Their defense is even shittier now with the Ekholm injury (it wasn't good to begin with). Nurse on the ice is a benefit to other teams.

You can't expect success in the postseason with poor goaltending AND defense. Maybe, maybe, you can overcome one of those things - but not both.

McDavid and Drai are going to have to score 5+ goals a game to overcome that. I don't see Edmonton as scary at all. I expect LA to finally win a series this year.

They have the same goalie who took them to game 7 of the finals.

Adding Walman helps with the temporary Ekholm loss as he's out for round 1.

I akin Edmonton making it to the cup finals last season to Montreal in '21 and Dallas in '20. None of these teams had any business making it that far and it was a fun cinderella run for their fans. But it resulted in the real cup champ to have a sleep walk of a final series.

Had Florida not fallen asleep in the cup finals that series should have been a four game ass kicking.

Expecting Edmonton to pull a rabbit out of a hat two years in a row is very unlikely. They simply do not have the roster for postseason success. I personally doubt they get past LA, not a chance in hell they get past Vegas.

I don't think they scare me, per se, but I think stylistically the Blues could be a harder "out" for the Avs than a team like the Oilers or even the Jets. They found a way to really frustrate the Avs systems in the final two regular season games between the two, and have been firing at all cylinders heading into the post-season; that combined with the emergence of Bolduc and the addition of Snuggerud, and they don't exactly look or feel like a true wild card team. If we somehow see them in RD2, it might harken back to 2022 where they were clearly the inferior team but put up a much harder fight than the Oilers even with Husso in net. I still think the Jets take them out, but I would have rather seen the Wild in the WC2 spot.

Edmonton has the most playoff series wins in the NHL since 2022.

That ain't no fluke.

IMO if every team is fully healthy in the West (excluding the Avs):

Vegas
Dallas

Edmonton

St. Louis

Winnipeg

Los Angeles

Minnesota
Dallas behind Vegas? How?

Could be bias or hate from Avs fans in general but yeah, objectively, Dallas is extremely underrated on this board (not just you).

I'm actually an Avs fan...
Why is your profile page banner two Edmonton players beating up on Golden Knights players, and in a very short sample size of posts (not just on this thread) you take a pro-Edmonton approach?

Really makes you wonder...

I can't be a fan of Evander Kane?

He's my favorite athlete outside of Makar & McDavid and has been since he was drafted.

I also really enjoy following the Oilers

A few reasons:

1) Vegas has shown an ability to win it all, as of yet Dallas has not. They've continuously come up short in big moments.

2) Dallas' D, even with Heiskanen, leaves A LOT to be desired. Vegas' D, on the other hand, is quite good with Theodore/Pietrangelo/Hanifin/McNabb able to eat basically 50 minutes each night.

3) I like Vegas' centers Eichel/Hertl/Karlsson better than Dallas' centers Hintz/Johnston/Seguin. Eichel > Johnston, Hintz > Hertl (not by much), but Karlsson in the playoffs I am taking over Seguin every day of the week.

They aren't though. Vegas gets the edge defensively if Heiskanen isn't playing, Dallas is better everywhere else.
Are they? Eichel is far and away the best forward of the two teams. And Miro is really the only player that even contends with Eichel. Dallas has the deeper forward core I'd say, but Vegas defense is wayyy deeper than Dallas'.
