Looking back some months one can't ignore that the D is holding up pretty good, given how the discussions about it went back then.

63% Corsi. 70 % scoring chance share. 70 % high danger scoring chance share. 49 scoring chances for! That’s about as dominant a game as a team can play...blues were full marks for the win.

Stecher is in over his head but you can’t shelter 3 D-man at a time... As well, the Blues know he can be bullied physically. The Canucks know this as well yet they did a piss poor job as a team slowing down that forecheck to not allow the blueline to get abused. Tanev was hit hard several times. Stechher bullied. Hell even Hughes took a couple substantial hits. This was the type of physical game that you really wish the blueline didn’t have to step back on the ice in 24 hours. And I think if you watch the tape by the time the third and OT came around you had a couple Canucks pull up and not take the hit. That’s concerning.

Virtanen seems the Virtanen of 2 years ago...unable to keep up once his shift hits 20 seconds.

Motte had 17% CF% playing 24 f***ing minutes and had more ice time than Elias Pettersson that is absolutely appalling. What other team in the league is playing a 4th line scrub over a top 15 player in the league?

O’Reilly’s ability to tilt the ice is just absurd, that line has been absolutely dominant this series.

its time to scratch Virtanen and roll with 7 D, the defense took an absolute pummelling tonight, we need to be smart and look at the long term picture of this series, whether we win or not tonight, we cant be having that happen to the defense again

Roussel hasn’t been his same annoying self thus far. He should be an agitating POS, much like Perron has established himself. Haven’t really noticed him much.

Roussel only played 7:35 last night. Have to wonder if he’s playing with an injury. There was one sequence where he had a line on hitting Perron - circumstances where you’d normally see him take a flying run for a big hit. He pulled up and played the stick and puck instead. I think there’s got to be a question as to whether or not he can go tonight.

Stecher got a rough ride tonight, but the kid is high character and a student of the gams. I expect him to come back strong this evening after being victimized a bit yesterday.

Whether it’s for Roussel or Virtanen, I would like to see Gaudette get in and get a shot. Get some fresh, hungry legs in there and maybe help the bottom six get on the scoresheet. Our best players have been our best players in terms of providing offense, but you don’t go deep in the playoffs without getting depth scoring.

Both teams gave a lot of effort and energy last night. Curious to see how much more they have to give playing again less than 24 hours later.
