Big Game Story: Western Conference Final’s Round #3, Game #3 – ‘The REMATCH’ The Los Angeles Kings now have the home-ice advantage, but the Chicago Blackhawks could take it right back by winning one or both of the next two games at Staples Center. The question is how the defending Stanley Cup champions will respond in Game 3 after watching the Kings score six straight goals in the final 22 minutes of Game 2 to earn a split of the first two games in Chicago. Chicago's penalty-killing was nearly impenetrable in the first two rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs; it was the best in the NHL entering the conference finals. The Blackhawks are still the NHL's top penalty-killing team, but they need to counter an effective adjustment in Game 2 by L.A. that led to power-play goals on back-to-back opportunities. The easiest method is to refrain from taking sloppy penalties, such as the two that led to those goals. But assuming they Blackhawks will be shorthanded at some point, their penalty-killers will probably have to deal with two players in front of goalie Corey Crawford again, rather than one. That change in strategy worked for the Kings in Game 2, and the goals that were scored changed the game in less than four minutes. Chicago expects to get scrappy, versatile forward Andrew Shaw back into the lineup after a lower-body injury that kept him out since Game 1 of the Western Conference Second Round, which will add another body in front of Kings goalie Jonathan Quick. Los Angeles coach Darryl Sutter will get the matchup advantage with the last line change, which should be interesting. In Chicago, Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville put his top line, centered by Jonathan Toews, against the Kings' top line centered by Anze Kopitar. They canceled each other out in Game 2, which left a battle of the next three lines that Los Angeles won thanks to the second line centered by forward Jeff Carter. Rookies Tanner Pearson and Tyler Toffoli are Carter's wings on that unit, which produced four goals and seven points Wednesday. In Game 3, they might wind up with a bigger challenge: They could play more against Toews' line if Sutter has Kopitar's group avoid Chicago's top line. GO KINGS GO !!!

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

I hope that the crowd is much better and that the Kings play better than they did in the Game 3 against Anaheim.

I think Sutter knows what a massive game this is and he will have the boys ready.

The Kings lackadaisical play is what turned the crowd off, not the other way around. The crowd, as always, was ready to explode. Instead, the Kings put us to sleep. I can't recall another close game, regular season or playoffs, where I actually wanted to get up and leave, it was that boring.

I think if the Kings win the Cup this season, we can look back and point to game 2, and particularly that great 22-minute stretch late in the 2nd and all of the third, as the huge turning point in the playoffs.

It's up to them if they want to make it happen. This team has been so up and down these playoffs, in particular at home, I really don't know which one is going to show up. But I will be ready to get crazy. Hope my team makes it that way.

Is anyone following Doughty on twitter? Why did he say his tweet lost him votes in NHL15? People told him to delete the tweet. I never saw it so he must have. I did see Mitchell's put of Doughty sleeping!

That photo with Strollsy and Lewis and the 'Hawks fans in the background (especially the young woman with the sense to stick out her tongue)?

That's a good photo.

(It's from Game 1 though, innit? I need to find the celebration shot after the King's fourth or fifth in Game 2.)

The team needs to give the crowd something to cheer about, which in game 3 against the Ducks, I assure you, they did not.

Please just don't blow this chance, Kings. You took back home ice, now take these asshats out!

It's 1:05pm PDT. Game 2 is being replayed on NHL network. About 3 mins left in the 2nd period. :)

This will be my pre-game warmup...
