There are many possibilities how this group will end, depending of the result. Czech have clinched the victory, but other teams can't be sure whether they will be in qualifying round or relegation round.

If Switzerland wins or draw
2. Switzerland (3-4 points)
3. Kazakstan (2 points)
4. Germany (0-1 points)

If Germany wins by 2 or more goals
2. Germany (positive goal diff)
3. Kazakstan (even goal diff)
4. Switzerland (negative goal diff)

If Germany wins 1-0
2. Kazakstan (3-3)
3. Germany (2-2, beat Switzerland)
4. Switzerland (2-2)

If Germany wins 2-1
2. Kazakstan (3-4)
3. Switzerland (4-6)
4. Germany (3-5)

If Germany wins 3-2, 4-3 etc.
2. Germany (at least 4 goals scored, beat Switzerland)
3. Switzerland (at least 4 goals scored)
4. Kazakstan (3 goals scored)

In those situations, Switzerland would be ranked ahead of Germany because of a better overall goal difference. The head to head is the first tie breaker.

This scenarios show again how silly this system is. In case Germany would lead by 2 goals in the last minute it is in both sides best interest that the swiss score another goal. In that case the Swiss would qualify, Germany would be able to take the 2 points against the swiss in the next round. :dunno:

1-1 after the first period.

How ridiculous was that???

Benda gets 5+20 (correct), but the Swiss player gets only 2 minutes although it was a clear charge with the use of the ellbow as well...

The use of the "player in the crease" rule is kind of stupid as well. If the swiss defender pushes the German into his own goalie, then it's not the fault of the German player and therefore doesn't lead to a stoppage of play.

Germany never had a good powerplay in the last few years, but somehow it gets worse everytime anyway. It's really amazing how often they lost the puck near the blueline.

Benda that idiot should know better.
:shakehead

That goal should have stood, what sort of rule is that.

Our Powerplay is a complete joke as always. There are just not enough players (especially the ones presently playing) who get regular powerplay shifts at their clubs and that gets just punished.

Lets hope we somehow get 2 goals so I do not see it happening, unless the swiss will loose their concentration. :sarcasm:

Martinez in the crease was an incident waiting to happen, as close as he stood to the goalie. The Swiss defender barely touched him, and he was lying in the goal. He clearly took that risk. Besides, when Fischer got pushed into the goal by the German defender the play was stopped as well and continued outside of the German zone.

The penalty-killing sucks, the powerplay is even worse and puckhandling skills are non-existant... :shakehead

Heck, even I wouldn't lose the puck so often. Maybe I would fall down all the time, but I wouldn't make so many Pejorative Slured plays...

How can someone play this badly?
Not even the Freezers, without all the good players, were this bad and they had some heavy losses...

Damn 3-1 for the Swiss. To be honest we do not deserve better, just shows the lack of depth we have. :shakehead

I do not know why they put Jonas into goal again, as Mueller has always stepped up playing for our national side in tournaments. :help:

Finally this game over. Congrats Switzerland.

I hope the players finally wake up and give the Austrians a good game tomorrow, but considering todays performance this will be a very tough game.

I don't agree regarding Benda. Although he obviously never intended to slash Conne in the face, that was exactly the kind of careless play that should be dealt with.

Concerning the disallowed goal, Streit barely touched Martinec and he made no effort to leave the crease, so in my opinion that was a good call as well.

That said, you may have a point regarding officiating. Switzerland made many dumb fouls, and the ref, trying to call an equal number of penalties against both teams, made some questionnable calls against Germany.

Still, Switzerland was way better tonight. The german defensemen's lack of puckhandling skills led to way too many missed passes, and the swiss players constantly outworked the germans in one on one battles.

Well, a least they showed some will in period 1 and 2 :shakehead .
Guess what? I miss Zach. Yeah, we only played Defense but at least the players showed more will, more... I don't know, spirtit? Something's really missing :dunno: .

I couldn't see the game, they broadcasted Canada vs. US. Could someone tell me how this could happen. Was there at least someone on the German team that looked good?
