I think it's clear that the Leafs are all in this season, some Leaf fans will disagree but the fact is in the last 7 months the Leafs have brought in John Tavares and Jake Muzzin, those are big moves, and those are moves that a team that is all in makes.

Now that we have established that, what's it going to cost to bring Wayne Simmonds to the Leafs ? because I do think they want another forward and I think Wayne Simmonds is a guy they want.

They already got their D man in Muzzin I think they want, and need more forward

No thanks and I think Dubas has been pretty clear on his interest in rentals.

Then you do not want to get better, you do not want to win if you don't want Wayne Simmonds you don't want to win.

Let me ask you this.
How much do you think he will cost to acquire now, pre deadline?
It's not going to be Brown or anything remotely like that. It will require a premium.
Secondly, how much is he going to require as a UFA on July 1st?
And thirdly, how much cap space do the leafs have and what RFAs do they have left to sign?

This isn't EA Sports.

Have a nice day.

He never said he wouldn't trade for a rental he said if he was going to move key assets, like a 1st he wanted a guy with term and he did that.

That's probably fair value wise but I just don't see the Leafs downgrading from Kadri to Laughton

They downgrade there but Laughton is still putting up respectable 3rd line production for 962k. Helps TOR plug 2-3 holes, clears long term space and they get a decent 2nd back to package or draft another need.

PHI gets their proven #2/3C on a sweet deal and can absorb the short term retention on Simmer and Gudas. Brown could be flipped for picks back.

He has said multiple times that he isn't interested in adding a rental.

I'd gladly take Kapanen, but I can't possibly see the Leafs dealing him for Simmonds. That would be senseless.

The 2020 first works though.

Question #1 I don't care because this team has a legitimate chance at a championship, when that is the case you have to go for it.

Question 2he's likely not coming back, I know that I'm OK with that, I'm OK with him being a rental.

Question 3 is completely irrelevant because he's a rental so he has no long term impact on the cap
