Does anyone know what's going on with NHL.TV? I went on and checked if my subscription renewed automatically and it sent me straight to ESPN+ webpage. Is NHL.TV done? I usually signed up for the 1 team package to just watch the Kings for the season. Any insight is appreciated!

I'm fine with that, but will I be able to watch every kings game that's not nationally televised?

ESPN+ will essentially be like what nhl.tv was. If you're in market, just get a VPN app.

Does anyone here know if San Diego is in-market for the Kings? I'm assuming not because we have the Quacks in between, but I never underestimate the ability of TV deals to frustrate sports fans.
it's been a while since i dealt with it, plus i'm in north county, but as i recall we were in both markets under fox sports so i'm assuming that transitioned over to bally too. i think fssd carried the ducks games

looks like directv has exclusive rights to streaming the RSNs right now? according to their website i would get both bally sports west & san diego

like you said, frustrating. it's why i stopped paying for it but that's another conversation

Roger, thanks for the info. It looks like I'll be grabbing a VPN app then; at least I already have ESPN+ through Disney+ & Hulu.

I have ATT TV for streaming and had Bally’s Sports in my package as of a couple weeks ago when I watched some Angels games.

I don’t think you can buy DirectTV for streaming anymore. Just satellite.

Can someone explain a "VPN app" (how to get, how to use, legality, etc.) to a simple farm boy?

To make it pretty simple, it's a service that hides your location through your IP address I believe (tech geeks correct me if I'm wrong)

Basically I used it to watch the kings living in Santa Clarita through NHL.TV. You can't normally watch your local teams because of blackouts.

It's pretty unfortunate the hoops you have to go through

yeah i think att tv and "directv stream" are now one and the same, the purchase or split or whatever you want to call it apparently closed this month

lovely trying to keep track of this stuff, isn't it?

I recommend Nord VPN - a lot of smart TVs/Amazon Firestick/etc carry it as a downloadable app too.

Leading VPN service. Online security starts with a click.

I use the Amazon Firestick for my TV viewing/streaming (Sling). So i guess i'd go this route you suggested. A few questions if you don't mind:
  1. You just download this app and you put in some out-of-market location?
  2. Are you watching ESPN+ (etc.) from this Nord VPN app or does the app just override your LA/Socal market location TV settings?
  3. Is it legal or is it Napster?

1. Yes
2. It runs in the background while you stream from other apps
3. VPNs are legal
