During these Olympics, for the first time ever I watched hockey games without commentators (online stream).

The round robin is over, and I have to say that I've never had such a great time watching hockey before!

I wish I had never heard any commentator at all. In fact, most of the time their stupid comments are getting under my skin and I spend the game all pissed criticizing the commentators instead of enjoying the hockey that's being played! "Will they ever shut up?"

All the commentators are biased, most of them are ignorant and give mistaken information about the players/teams on a regular basis. And very often they don't even comment the game, just talk about some players who were left off the roster.

Yesterday I watched the 1st 2 periods of CAN-CZE online without commentators, and the 3rd on TV with commentators. I can still hear the commentators say that Canada will face either Sweden or Slovakia. :banghead:

No more commentators!!! :yo:

So true. Rarely a time when the commentators are not talking complete crap. And in soccer (at least in Germany) it`s even worse. Do they have to learn or know anything?

Let me guess.... watched the 3rd period with the morons that are Bob Cole and Harry Neale? Those two men need to retire like NOW! They don't know what they're talking about and I hope Jim Hughson and Greg Millen do the QF. They know what they're talking about, as much as I don't wanna admit Millen does.

The BBC has been showing some games without commentary on its interactive service and its great, it just makes you think how bad some commentators are when you dont have to listen to their verbal diarrhoea.

The rugby is shown with optional sound with either commentary, just the stadium sound or the stadium sound with ref mike. Id love it if they did that with hockey but it would never happen because the whole country would grind to a halt if someone was caught swearing on it.

Please Help!

Where are the online streams? The Netherlands site I visited wouldn't let any non-EC IP's on and even when I used a proxy to put my IP in "Italy" I couldn't connect. Japan has totally dropped the ball on these Olympics, there are 300+ channels on satellite TV and not one has the games, this because the national broadcaster NHK bought all the rights then just isn't showing anything but Japanese athletes in a short recap package!

So show me those URLs please friends...

A few years ago during the playoffs the Montreal Canadiens broadcast team went on strike or something so I watched the playoffs with no commentators....it was incredible, almost like being at the game.

I couldn't agree more! Which knowledgeable hockey fan really needs these buffoons to explain what's going on the ice? Hopefully networks will really this and fire them all.

I agree. Those were great. I wish I had the option of just the crowd and ice noise. I'd never listen to play by play again in my life. I could call a game for accurately through a 7 inch screen than dribbling senility Bob Cole.

I remember that too. It was awesome! I really enjoyed it. Sometimes I mute the TV but you cannot hear the crowd nor the hits and shots, so it's not better.

yes, this is rather illuminating...on behalf of non-north american hockey fans everywhere, I'd also like to know precisely who is providing these online streams?

But, do you not miss hearing the sweet notes of Harry Neale's voice as he drones on about that dirty Jarkko Ruutu from Sweden?
