Morning show really is the best show on there

Yeah I agree. Also love Land of the Lost with Robert Drake on Friday nights but he only does that once a month or so. He plays so many great lesser-known 80s gems.

meant to post this the other day

If anyone likes funk rock with an emphasis on horns that are not those of Earth, Wind and Fire, try this cut. I own the album that contains this song and I’ve never met anyone who has heard of them.

I heard this song a TON in the 80s, then it kind of disappeared.

Always loved the song, and, for the first time (me at 46 years old), I gave it go on drums tonight. I had it on a thumb drive in my receiver, so it took 4 tries to be able to drop the remote and grab a stick and come into the beginning drums (which are weird to me) on time...which is the crux of the whole song because the drums are simple after that.

Anyway, Chrissie Hynde is a bad ass (even though this is a lip sync).

Didn't get into Steely Dan until last year but now I love them. Aja is great of course but so is Can't Buy A Thrill, Pretzel Logic, and Gaucho. Donald Fagen's solo album Nightfly is also pretty damn good. Their albums sound incredible on vinyl too.
"Peg" and "Reelin' in the Years" have been two of my favorite songs to play on drums for the last 20+ years.

When I broke down and spent $$$ on a new (used, actually) ride cymbal the first song I played was Peg.

The cymbal (a 22" Paiste Dimensions medium ride) did the job tremendously, and years later I can't imagine using another ride. It's amazingly versatile. For the drummers out there, it has a great ping, wash if you play toward the edge, it's actually crashable, and it has a great bell. Riding the shoulder with the shoulder of the stick gives a blend of all of those things, IMO.

Classics. If you drum and like Paistes, see if you can find one to play.

At least the top 2 arent Free Bird and Stairway to Heaven.

Respect is iconic, but my favorite Aretha song is Rock Steady. Think is no 2.

I would almost say Frank's My Way should be no 1.
Someone took it upon themself to remix that gem...

I like this version of Rock Steady more than the original version. It's longer, and funkier. The only thing I hate is that when I drum along to it the "slow down" ending is abrupt. When I've been locked into a groove for 5 minutes it's a bummer when that shit ending comes in.

I’ve played drums for over 20 years, and foolishly sold my custom Ayotte maples years ago. Was always partial to Paistes.

If I had my druthers, I’d be looking to buy a DW Collector’s set with Paiste cymbals. However, given that I don’t have a soundproofed room and don’t feel like leasing space, a Roland vDrum kit will have to do.

Denmark is surprisingly good for dancehall.

Interestingly the guy here started as a journalist and writer (mainly journalism), became a radio host, then in his mid-30s became one of Dennmark's biggest musical acts over night.

Saw Tony Williams in concert long ago, with Jan Hammer on keytar (Miami Vice theme composer), and Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater) on keyboards — Hammer was particularly stupendous with his solos, just mind blowing.
