After trading Orlov and Hathaway all the Caps UFA are for trade and maybe on the cheap seeing the return from Boston. We can retain salary or take on salary dumps

UFA:
Eller - 2nd
Jensen - 2nd + 3rd
Craig Smith - Anything
Sheary - 2nd
Johansson -3rd
Van Riemsdyk - 3rd
Gustafsson - 3rd

Let the auction begin! Going once, going twice, SOLD!

Think with those names it's going to be "going once, SOLD! No take backs!"

Ehhh i don't think so... most contenders are cap strapped. I think there will be lots of interest in guys like Sheary, Johansson, Jensen, Gustafsson and Sheary who are on very cheap contracts. Propably Eller too with salary retention.

I think most of those guys you are looking at 3rd, 4th, or 5th rounders, not 2nds. Jensen should return a 2nd and a good prospect. Maybe even a 1st if a team desparately needs RHD.

TvR should have good value too. RHD but has played left when he needs to. Good penalty killer. Strong 5v5 defense. I'd ask for a 2nd for him. Everyone else, take whatever.

He cleared waivers with a $3.1M cap hit. You may be right that he doesn’t have value but getting him at a discounted rate may change the situation.
Maybe, but I don’t see it. He was put in one of the best situations in the league - rw of Bergeron and Marchand and still couldn’t produce. He looks cooked.

Cool. He’ll fit in well in Washington. Our coach is a buffoon, so Smith will get top line minutes, and probably walk away with an extension.

Sheary & Jensen are the most interesting names there. I have only paid attention to Eller once this season, but he did not look great. I could see NYI being interested in Sheary, especially. They could also use a PP specialist/PMD, but I'd still rather run out the Swedish Aho every night than Gustafsson.

I highly doubt Wilson goes to anyone in the Metro or East unless teams are willing to massively overpay. Kuzy on the other hand, make your offers.

Wilson is not going anywhere. What will most likely happen is next season he gets extended and in a few years he's made their next captain. The only way he'd go is if the Capitals are dogs**t again next season at the deadline and contract negotiations are failing or via free agency if he's not interested in resigning. Management isn't going to tear it down by selling one of few remaining core pieces that seems to show up every night when they're objective is to stay competitive as long as Ovi is on the team (and they've done a mighty terrible job at that but that's another issue)

I've been hoping for Lars Eller to go to the Jets since Christmas. He'd be an upgrade on any of the 4th liners here, and maybe even a 3rd line centre, if needed.

Jets don't have a 2nd, but they have a 3rd and some prospects that Washington might like.

They should absolutely listen on Wilson. Not saying they should automatically trade him, but nobody outside of Ovechkin should be untouchable and Wilson is one of their most valuable trade pieces.
Listen? Sure. But make it clear at the outset of the conversation a fair trade offer isn't going to be convincing to move him. Even more if someone from within the division is calling. The cat herd that is going to be on display for the rest of the season barring a miracle will need a shepherd.
