Good news for Commanders fans if you could call it that. Ravens, biggest competitor for Bieniemy's services, have hired another OC. Meaning he would technically still be in play for this team. Washington despite ownership turmoil is a great place to use offensive weapons and make your name. Maybe even become the next HC.

What's next: In what feels like a must-win season for coach Ron Rivera, the Commanders need to support Sam Howell, who enters offseason workouts as their No. 1 quarterback. Look for Washington to identify offensive line upgrades in the draft or free agency. Right tackle Jawaan Taylor and guard Dalton Risner could be good fits.

The Commanders can't spend too aggressively because they have core defensive players to keep. Defensive tackle Daron Payne played well enough that the franchise tag is a viable option. Pass-rusher Montez Sweat is a year from free agency, and they must decide on Chase Young's fifth-year option ($17.5 million).

The Wizards, Commies, and Caps are all in purgatory. The Wizards are locked into mediocrity (or worse) for the duration of Beal's contract so they're in the worst spot but it genuinely feels like things could go either way for the Commies and Caps. Some upcoming personnel, coaching, and management decisions could take each franchise in markedly different directions.

Caps? Come on….more like they’ve deployed the life raft and it’s got a slow leak. They can still get to shore but need to do a lot of work make it seaworthy.

He can hold a hard line but he destroyed the asset he’s trying to sell so this is his fault. The product sucks and the customers are leaving. Not only is the current stadium a disaster but because of him, no one wants to work with the team to build a new one which means the new owner is going to have to mend a lot of fences in order to get something done that won’t cost full asking price. For context, Stan Kroenke privately funded $5B to build SoFi stadium so a new owner is potentially looking at figuring out how to pay $5B for the team and another few billion for a stadium. And they’re looking at a lot of work ahead of them both on and off the field. He really couldn’t have left the team in a less attractive spot from an M&A perspective, especially with the Seahawks coming up for sale in a few years.

Dan will eventually sell because he has to. He doesn’t have the money to pay off the debt he’s going to be called on by the league when they raised the debt ceiling and he sure doesn’t have the money or the group of investors to build a new stadium. He can rant and rave and threaten not to sell but if he doesn’t sell he will almost certainly lose the team anyway and he’ll lose it in a much more embarrassing fashion.

It's all posturing and negotiations bluster. He's got very little power and is clearly being forced out behind the scenes.

All he's doing now is playing hard to get until he's sure of the highest bid or has no choice but to settle.
