32 points in 62 games this season. Has one more season in the USHL, and then he's going to Providence College in 2023-24. One of the youngest 2023 Draft Eligibles.

These were my notes on him this season.

Adams: Not the biggest, the most dynamic puck-handling, or best skating, but he does play a pretty good two-way game for a winger. Plays good defense, plays with some grit, good hockey sense. Offensive skills and skating are good enough. I see why he has high point totals and is viewed as a highly rated prospect, although you watch him play and it’s not as if he’s one of these guys that has obvious big upside. He’ll be picked next year. Probably higher than most think he should be. Teams like players like this. I would be surprised if he’s not at least a mid-round pick.

He was playing on the top line at the Hlinka for the USA with Musty and Terrance.

He did about how he always does. Complimentary winger. Gritty, retrieves pucks. Goes to the dirty areas. Gets the most out of his 5'11 175 listing. Also an early September birthday, so thats something that I think will also work in his favor.

I would not draft him any higher than like the 6th or 7th round because I don't see upside, but I'm pretty sure teams are going to take him higher than that because they like players like this. It's also worth pointing out that while he lacks high-end offensive ability he had 32 points in 62 games last season and managed to find his way onto the first line for the US. It's possible his offensive ability is underrated, even if I don't think so.

Agree for the most part. I think his offensive ability is a bit underrated by scouting brass due to lacking the sexy/flashy skill. He brings a lot of substance to the table and his off the puck offense, ability to get to the dirty areas of the ice is a skill within itself. He plays a solid all around game that i see transferring to pro very well.

He may not be a 1st rounder or a future top line guy. But I'd put his potential somewhere in the realm of a 2nd/3rd line tweener. I could also see his game transitioning to C at some point. I'm pretty sure that's what he played before, ( just not in Hlinka) but i could be wrongt there

I saw him playing wing for Tri-City last year, but that was his 16 year old year. I wouldn't doubt you are right that he's a natural center.

This article projects him as a potential 2nd rounder in the NHL draft -

Tanner Adams, Left Wing/Right Wing, Tri-City Storm (USHL), 5’11” / 174 lbs., Sep. 2, 2005

There aren’t many options for power-forwards out of America in this draft class. The closest option is Tanner Adams, who ran on the wing of Tri-City this season. He’s a bit of a slow-mover but Adams does a good job of moving play up the ice and finds lanes well in the offensive zone. With a hard shot, hard pass, and probably more strength than anyone else on the ice, he can force his way into open ice and battle for possession. There’s a lot to like about Adams and it feels like his game is nowhere near its peak. Adams is a strong-bodied winger with an eye for the golden spots of the ice and the strength to serve in front of the net. While that doesn’t scream “high ceiling” it creates room for optimism, and room for a nice ranking on this list.

Adams’ is also incredibly young, making his potential all the more appetizing. As a September-born, Adams may wind up one of the bigger names from this American class.

Didn't get drafted. I'm actually very surprised at that. I don't think he's that good, but I thought he'd be the type of player that NHL teams love due to the way he plays. Could obviously still get drafted in future years or be an eventual UDFA signing.

Had 33 points in 49 games this past season, and is headed to Providence next season.

My scouting report from his USHL season.

He’s going to go a lot earlier than most people think. His compete level is great. Hounds the puck and gives his all every shift. He has some offense, but for a 5’11 winger with average skating, it’s complimentary offense. Not likely to be a consistent top 9 forward, but possibly could be a bottom 6 winger that can play in all situations, and move up the lineup in a pinch. I would probably say a round 4-5 guy, but don’t be surprised if he goes round 3, or possibly as high as round 2.

A bit odd to me this kid didn't get drafted in '23. He's the fourth youngest player in NCAA and holding his own on a good team. Who knows. I think he'll be one of the higher drafted second go-around draft picks in '24.
