Voynov in Sutter's doghouse

He's not the first player to relax too much after getting a nice contact and he won't be the last. Hopefully he develops Carter's work ethic.

Voynov hasn't been himself yet, but i'm sure that he will get into form. A lot of those guys seem to get a hangover from a new contract. Also, don't forget that he put in a ton of work at the AHL and NHL level to prove himself and it's not too surprising to see a drop off.

Carter needs to be running offseason camps, that guy is in incredible shape

Carter worked out with Lewis in the offseason again, didn't he? I think Lewis has a really solid offseason work ethic as well.

I think King and Stoll should be in the doghouse soon, but I doubt it happens. Can't wait to see some callups this year from the young guns. Guarantee you that Sutter won't hesitate to do it if he isn't seeing results.

I remember hearing a few years back that Lewis was about the most in shape player on the King roster due to his summer regiment. This was before Carter got here though. But yea, Lewy has always been a stickler for that stuff I believe.

Especially his teeth! They get knocked out one game, and then the next game they're back again!? Whoa!!! Any guy that can magically regrow his teeth has got to be in EXCELLENT physical health!!!

Not to burst your bubble or anything but I'm pretty sure those were his baby teeth. Got a shiny 50 cent piece for each!

I don't get it, shouldn't the organization be keeping the players in check so they don't get out of shape?

Carter is rapidly becoming a THE consummate professional on the Kings.

All the talent in the world, and discovered he could be even better with a great work ethic.

Lewis and Stoll are workout warriors as well from what I hear.

Sure would be nice if Doughty and Kopitar spent a summer in LA just to see what could happen.

I understand that, but doesn't the training staff see them regularly during the off season though?

Nope, not unless the players want to see them. Some players even hire personal trainers for the summer.

What KINGS17 said.

I'm pretty sure there's some NHLPA lawyerspeak about how much teams can dictate what players do in the offseason, though I know they at least get prescribed/advised training/nutrition plans.

That's very interesting, I thought the team and players might meet like once a week for check ups and such to keep them on track or something.

Does anyone feel that maybe the players and staff should keep in touch more to maintain good player fitness. Mandatory check ups so players will be more entitled to performing their best for the contracts they signed.

They can't....

There are mandates in the NHLPA agreement that limits contact with players during the off-season.

But...That doesn't mean the players couldn't visit the Kings trainers if they wanted too.

These guys are adults, it is part of being a professional player. It's their job to be ready for the season. It's one reason Lombardi has kept the hated Stoll around for so long.

Stoll is consistently one of the most in shape athletes the Kings have, (gym rat). Lombardi wants younger players to see how hard Stoll works.
