He’s been absolutely incredible for the Kings basically replacing Doughty and playing the most minutes on the team.

He’s racking up +17 rating and on pace for career high 40 points.

The problem is he’s a UFA at the end of the season and I don’t know if the Kings will re-sign him.

If he hits free agency, what contract are we looking for him and what teams will be in contention ?

Look at what Matt Roy got in FA, and add a good percentage to it.

He will get paid, and rightfully so. My guess is 7x6.5
If he was asking 6.5, feel like the contract would be done by now. Gavrikov is going to ask for top pair money. He's also shown himself capable of playing the right side.

We'll see if Gavrikov prices himself off the team.

I mean, the deal he signed with the Kings was always betting on an absolutely massive payday just down the road. It was pretty well reported at the time that it was such a short deal at medium money, because he was "betting on himself" and the rising cap.

So i'd expect him to cash in bigtime. With the way the cap is rising...i don't even know exactly what that looks like. But it'll probably look very "yikes" to most people.

His current salary is $5.875M, he’s going to get at least $6.5M but the Kings should really think of trading him and getting some much needed assets

Kings won't trade him.

They hung on to Roy who was less important, at a redundant position, with no NMC.

They have next to nothing behind Gavy on the left side, he's got Blake bent over a barrel for his next deal but I can't see the Kings not signing him. A guy who can play a high level filling in as a #1 on both sides? He'll be 'worth' anything short of 9 million in this market.

They will hold on to him, and he is gonna bolt for an absurd contract in FA.

And I don’t blame the guy one bit.

:naughty:

Thought he was a low key top 4 option next off-season. Didn’t realize how he was going off this year. Good for him betting on himself. Will have to pay attention to an LA game in the new year.

I've been banging this drum quite a bit with Chychrun on the Caps forums but I think unfortunately for Gavrikov all of his recent comps have taken fairly team friendly deals (or at least are valued less than you would think).

Theodore $7.425Mx7
Hanifin $7.35Mx8
Hronek $7.25Mx8
Dunn $7.35Mx4
Montour $7.14Mx7
Toews $7.25Mx7
H. Lindholm $6.5Mx8

Those are all guys who signed/extended recently towards the end of their UFA years and I would say are probably solid 2s but below average 1s on a contender. There's also a pretty clear grouping for (reputation wise at least) solid 3s but below average 2s as well:

Roy $5.75Mx6
Zadorov $5Mx6
Lindell $5.25Mx5
Pesce $5.5Mx6

Obviously we have no idea what the rising cap is going to look like or how it's going to affect negotiations. My guess is that Gavrikov will probably come in towards the lower end of that first group though, around $7Mx7.
