The hard part with Zegras was that we had a legit shot to get him, in addition to Kakko.

Yup and the logic would dictate that it were a good trade but I'd feel miserable seeing Buch finding success elsewhere. I guess I will need to start preparing myself for this regardless.

Do you think his ceiling is much higher than his current play? I think this is peak Buch.

He's a hell of a player... and I have no idea for how long peak Buchnevich lasts... but I do believe this is his ceiling.
Considering he is just 25, I am betting a while more.

Not expecting to be higher but not expecting it to decline either, so I don't see a rush to move him. The longer he stays at this level the more suitors / return he could bring back.

He looks awfully competent out there for a 21 year old. Smart, soft hands, powerful stride, and hustles.

Maybe we should just trade everyone playing well "while their value is high".

If the alternative is trading them when their value is low... yes...

There is a log jam at wing. Buchnevich is a valuable asset at his peak value. Trading him makes sense.

Damn has he looked good. Makes me wonder what the hell happened last year.

He has made all the right decisions with the puck, which is shocking for a rookie. Even in the D-zone. I'm not surprised he moved up to the first line last night. He made Kreider look like an inexperienced rookie.

Honestly, Kakko happened last year. VK had the better camp, but they wanted KK on the roster and the FO said they wanted Kravy getting more minutes than he would on the 4th line so they sent him to Hartford to start.

In retrospect it probably should of been the other way around, but both kids look great right now so i'd say everything worked out for the best in the end.
