Check out points standings on the team. High prices vets are still (way) at the top. Otherwise you keep the depth as long as possible and then trade replaceable excess WHEN the time comes.

If it was that easy the Rangers wouldn't have ate Shatty, etc contracts.

The Zibanejad-Buch link looked really good with him on it. Then again he made every line he was put on look good. It is really nice for once to have a player who is capable of developing instant chemistry with anyone he plays with. His versatility (playing on different lines during the game, switching wings during the game) is pretty amazing. Honestly they should really think about putting this kid at center over Chytil who I think more and more resembles a winger for me.

The reasons the vets are at the top stats page is because they keep gettting fed big minutes and power play time. If you started giving Laf, Kakko, and to a lesser extent, Chytil the minutes that Kreider, Zbad, Strome, and Buchnevich get, they would also be the guys at the top of the team stats sheet.

Here's a guy who really benefited, IMO, from coming to North America. I'm really glad after initially peacing out that he came back. When he came back, while he struggled at times, he was trying to adjust--more north/south, and you could definitely see him playing a stronger net-front game that he was initially. Then, this year in the KHL, it was like a carryover of that. He scored a ton of goals and had a ton of chances by playing around the net--defelctions, rebounds, goals where he provided a screen, etc. And he went much harder to the net than ever before, and also show a real commitment to playing a true 200-foot game.

I'm a noted skeptic of the kid (only in terms of his actual upside--I know he's a good player) but those were definitely the two things I credited him for this year, his play around the net and his hard work in getting better and more committed defensively. I think the fact that he improved in these two areas as much as he did will serve as a primary factor in him getting more TOI as the season closes. Quinn, rightly or wrongly, expects certain things out of guys, and I think Kravtsov is showing those things, regardless of whether the points have been there for him (they'll come, of course).

Once they're mathematically eliminated, I'd like to see him get a few reps at C.
He should switch with Chytil.

Chytil is a bull with a great bull rush, at the moment he's a 'one-trick' pony. He's still one of our best 'goal scoring' options.

Kravtsov on the other hand has blown all expectations out of the water ( even though it's been 5games ) He has a commanding presence and looks like a high IQ, top line playmaking seasoned vet. He literally checks every single box

(Talking about) trying wingers at C is a meme here at this point, but VK at C is definitely a thing to try when eliminated or next TC. He's like Hayes with better skating, back checking, and vision and also younger than when Hayes broke in.

If we do end up going for Eichel, Kakko, Laf, Kravtsov and Fox are off limits for me. I'd be hard pressed to give up Miller too. Chytil, Buch, Hajek, Howden/Blackwell and a 1st. Assuming that's not nearly enough to get it done compared to other offers, but I guess I just don't want Eichel enough to break the bank on prospects/youth.

He did a better job retrieving pucks and finding open players than any of our forwards during this 2 game set. This was against one of the top defensive teams in the league and he made them look like Philly.

Maybe it doesn't work for what ever reason, but I don't see why it shouldn't be given a look.

Ugh. At least we knew other teams in our spot would've lost on Lias too. I take some solace in that.

F*ck Edmonton for that not trading us the Zegras pick tho.

The Edmonton talks literally came down to the final seconds. Ultimately they went with the pick and Broberg.

Zegras ends up in Anaheim and is a stud prospect.

Buchnevich has since hit the next level and would've helped Edmonton immensely.

Broberg is TBD.

First of all, it would take more than Buchnevich. Second of all, you would set of a chain of events that includes trading ZBad. Third of all, what it would do to the cap structure......

So I am back to again asking who are the trading partners and what does the return profile look like?
