I understand that has years playing in the KHL but he's the best looking of our 4 young guys in Chytil, Kakko, Laf, and Kravtsov.

Let's compare them all at the 21 year old mark( I'm not including Chytil here, i think the other prospects are above him anyway). Not disagreeing but theres a big difference between a 19 year old rookie and a 21 year old.

So after the disappointing season last year with the Pack, a lot of people were hesitant to say he has more than 50 point upside. Should we revise that? He seems like a guy that has potential to do at least what Buch is doing now.

All depends on if the consistency is here to stay. When he’s on his a game, he has all the makings of a 70+ point forward. When he has some waves in his game, you tend to envision results more in line with Kreider and Buch’s journey thus far.

Would you still take him over Wahlstrom?

Would you still take him over Wahlstrom?

Yes. Wahlstrom to me is a guy who will get his points, in some cases almost by sleepwalking through games.

But Kravtsov is the more dangerous and potentially more complete package.

Now, having said all that, Farabee was my boy in 2018 and I know that he and Zegras (2019) are going to break my heart for many years.

I won’t stop repeating about how surprised I’m that his game translated to the NHL so early into his career. I’m seeing exactly the same plays he’s been making over in the KHL (at both ends of the ice). Same high dance chances for generation machine while being responsible on the defensive end too. Just remember now (while everyone is giddy) that development is not a straight line and Kravtsov will have a shitty stretch to get through.

P.S. Where are those posters who were bringing up Wahlstrom in this thread?

If we're concerned about Joel Farabee for years, we will have failed at this rebuild miserably.

Keep repeating Kravtsov, Kakko, Lafreniere in whatever order over Wahlstrom, Zegras, Farabee.

Ok, so where does he play? Line 3?

A lot of options, he’s comfortable on both wings and can adopt his game to different type of teammates.

Personally I’d be fine with ANY role Quinn finds for this Russian rookie. Some - won’t be happy and will find ways to criticize Quinn no mater what.

How many sarcastic posts were there about Quinn playing Kravtsov on the 4th line even before he was put in the lineup. Well, Kravtsov played on the 4th line and unlike certain previous prospect just showed that he CLEARLY can be trusted and promoted to higher lines.

Kravtsov has earned a spot in the top-9. So have Kakko and Lafrenière. I don't see a reason to not have Buch and Panarin in the top-9 so that leaves that final spot for either Blackwell or Kreider.

the Rangers are headed towards a cap disaster. This isn’t a video game. Players will also become unhappy with their playing time. Tough to stay in rhythm with limited minutes.

great to see him promoted yet when they promote one where does the demotion go? And when these promotions result in more and more points what happens to those higher priced vets getting demoted? The higher priced vets put up fewer points and their trade value drops while the kids out up more points and get paid less. How long before an agent asks for more cash b/c their player is putting up twice as many points and gets paid 30% of what the less productive fat cats are getting paid?

You cannot keep everybody - cannot pay everybody - cannot keep them all happy.

Any advanced stats out there? Curious to see if they back up the eye test

Man are we spoiled with talent up front (and back end). Went from having nearly zero high end skill on the roster to a crazy surplus of it almost overnight.

Let them all push each other for minutes. Play the hot hand. Right now, that isn't Kreider.

He was making plays and finding openings against on the regular against the Isles who are elite defensively and obstruct at every given moment. Didn't impact him at all.

He could have easily had a 5-6 point set on LI.

Check out points standings on the team. High prices vets are still (way) at the top. Otherwise you keep the depth as long as possible and then trade replaceable excess WHEN the time comes.
