With what I’m seeing from K & K I’m getting more on board with trading Buchnevich for a sick return. I don’t think it’s imminent because of the amount of cap space next season - just give Buchnevich long term deal without NTC and there will be plenty of suitors once he’s made available down the line.

the hot takes on this board crack me up. Buch has had over a year straight where every time he touches the puck he extends the possession and turns it toward a scoring chance. When the puck gets on his stick in the offensive zone it almost always leads to a quality attempt.

THAT is who you’d want to shop? Of all the players on the roster... For players who’ve just had their first solid back to back nights? I mean really, how does this opinion even make sense?

we are not left with much choice though

this team made the massive mistake of committing to kreider’s corpse. panarin isn’t going anywhere. what else should we do to fill holes?

I keep reading that there is no way we can sign Buch. Why? Don't we have like 11 mil in dead cap space coming off the books + Smiths 4 mil. What are realistic numbers to extend him that would work for both parties?

Yea, I’m too casual to know the cap implications and the necessity of moving players, so maybe it’s our only recourse. But we’ve seen a lot of development since the first lockout: Callahan, Dubinsky, Anisimov, Korpi, Zucc, Hagelin, Stepan, and each of them we hoped would turn into a player that created a scoring chance with every offensive zone touch. And some came close, but I’d take Buch today over every single one of them.

we’ve added from the outside: Zherdev, Frolov, Fedetenko, Woj, Antropov, Jokinen, hell I mean at least two per season, and none of them changed each offensive possession where they got a touch directly toward a legit scoring chance. I’d take Buch right now over every addition we made except Gabby and maybe Nash since the first lockout.

My issue was with the original poster that I quoted saying move Buch for something sick. What could we really get for Buch today, that he isn’t better than already? And with these kids coming up, he’s honestly exactly the guy I want on their wing, or on the other top unit to draw match ups. Maybe I’ve just become a huge fan of this guy over the past year, but I’ve also waited a long time for someone that both had great instincts and good skill, that didn’t cost us the top salary in the league.

Your first sentence is ridiculous
Stickin on that, it's been extremely limited but he does look like a better overall skater, puck handler, playmaker and has better vision and IQ... compared to what I've seen from Chytil.

That's not a knock on Chytil, he's just more in a mold of a Kreider ( it's what I've seen for the past few years), where as Kravtsov is more in a mold of a Panarin.

He really has all the tools to be a good top6 center.... If they give him that opportunity, we'll see.

Do I want to shop him? No. Do I think there’s no cap room for him right away? No. But will we be able to fit him on LW (or RW for that matter) for the length of 5-6 years at $6m per? No. If you disagree please explain how because I’d love to keep Buchnevich.

I give you my well thought out analysis and you treat me like @Amazing Kreiderman!?!

But yeah, probably not. I'd like to think him, Miller and Laf are partying up in SoHo. A Yankee, a Canuck and a Ruskie growing up in NYC, would make a great sitcom. Tuesday is poutine night, but borscht Wednesdays are where it's at!

I'm from Ukraine where we drink Borscht as well and I will say French Canadian iconic food>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>that garbage beet soup.

Should't really like a top young winger prospect playing on the 4. line, but they get decent TOI each game. I feel Kravtsov has really changed that 4. line into a different animal 5 on 5. Ha made 2 players that on their best days are almost useless in the offensive zone becomming dangerous with the way he tok the puck and movedit and himself to open lanes for Rooney and Howden to attack.

Really want to see Kravtsov - Rooney - Gauthier line.

Kravtsov is showing us what it actually looks like when a player pushes for a bigger role, despite playing smaller minutes with bad line mates.

The play almost never dies on his stick, and he’s almost never behind the play.

Exactly, the player is forcing bigger minutes for himself instead of being handed them as an entitlement.

You missed or ignored when I literally said “not imminent” and give him contract extension but without NTC.

I'm confused how Chytil is like Kreider. On his worst day Chytil has much better hands than Kreider but is not as good of a net front presence.

So are you saying he's like the Anti-Andersson?!?!

And by the way

And by the way

I didn’t really change my stance on Buchnevich. He doesn’t need to be moved immediately, I’m just a lot more comfortable moving him EVENTUALLY and leaving the Rangers top-6 wingers with Panarin, Lafreniere, Kakko and Kravtsov.

However, Gorton has to try to keep top-end talent in place for as long as he can.
