C’mon, do you remember his shots? When my son was 8 his wrister had more oomph.

What Kravtsov did show is his defensive awareness even if he needs to get stronger (duh) and that effort on a great chance late in the third.
His shots were soft but he was definitely just trying to break the ice, so to speak. Get on the board.

I do always wonder why guys don’t flip bouncers on net in that kind of situation. Goalies hate bouncing pucks.

Totally understandable that Vitali was a bit hesitant to let it rip, but then let’s be objective and not bring his SF% as some game accomplishment either.

I thought he looked solid in his willingness to get back which is a welcome improvement from last year.

In open play, I though he was half a step behind. I saw him skating behind the man with the puck waving his stick on several occasions. Adjusting to the speed of the NHL game is always the hardest part for young guys.

The play in front was good. It looked like the shot was going wide but that doesn't matter, the important part was that he was battling in front of the net and winning pucks, which is something he really excelled at in the KHL this year. That's an area where he scored a lot of goals. I hope he keeps working there.

All in all it was a decent debut, more or less what I expected. Hopefully he starts making the adjustment and really takes off.

I was impressed with his effort, especially defensively. I thought he had good awareness to clear the puck, back-check, and try to use his body. As long as he plays like that, even Quinn can't/shouldn't bench him. I think the offensive side will come out when he plays a bit more relaxed.

Agree. I think the step behind thing was due to the quicker NHL pace that you noted and also because he hasn’t played in an actual game for close to a month.

Led our team in shots and was 3rd in xGF among forwards

This is why you have to actually watch the games to have an educated opinion.

It reminds me of when people used to post how well Nash was performing when he was taking 10 heartless limp wristers from the blueline and scoring none while wasting powerplays and chances and we would lose 2-1. “Look how great he played, he created!”

God that guy sucked.

K played ok though!

Solid debut.

Kid is freaking huge, even bigger than I'd expected. I'd be shocked if he and K'Andre weren't the same height.

Way bigger than when I saw him live in pre season 2019.

That shot from the belly was one of the greatest bits of effort I've seen from any one of our guys all year.

I was shocked Quinn had him out there as much as he did. If that was some sort of 'prove it' the kid deserves more minutes off the bat.

Pure eye test results-

-He has some freakish length and a very powerful stride. You can see the talent oozing, even when he’s not making the best play. Did he make some bone headed rookie plays? Yes. But can you see where this could be going based on his raw talent and physical gifts? God yes. Very exciting.

Joel Bouchard played with no 74 for the Rangers
not surprised, i guess, that you (and hockey-reference) are better informed than rangers.nhl.com

His speed was impressive. He was good along the boards, but I think he will show even more there as his timing to NHL pace improves. He flubbed a couple passes which could be attributed to nerves. His positioning without the puck was pretty good.

Can we address Micheletti blaming Kravstov for Okposo's partial breakaway while Hajek and Smith are standing still on the blue line? The fact Kravy almost got back on that should be a compliment and he looked engaged defensively, which should be a huge improvement over where he was last time he wore a Rangers or Pack jersey.

would love to know the intent behind some of Michelitti’s quotes towards the young kids playing times.

How many times yesterday did he make a comment “oh oh let’s see if Kravtzov sees the ice again”.

Was this sarcastic as a comment as to how quickly Quinn will bench the young guys, or was this serious he thought benching was the proper move.

Joe will never blame the D bc he was a defenseman. I’m sure he spent many of nights being pissed at someone else for his lapses.

I'll say it again, listening to Vally it's just jarring to see how vapid Joe is. You know how you guys get on me for everything being the goalie's fault. With Joe everything is because they didn't take shots. Joe's analysis is on par with mine and I'm just some guy on the internet.

Wish I could mute Joe. Every game all he does is whine whenever the team makes a pass when they could have thrown some weak low percentage shot on net. Recently he's been shocked by how slow and boring the last two OT games were when that has basically been a thing across the league for the entire season. Not to mention yesterday he was surprised by Ristolainen playing the net front role on the PP when that is something he has done since last year.

Basically Joe complains every time they didn't shoot and pass but never says anything when they pass and score. Joe's hockey IQ is on par with the "SHOOOOOOOT" guys at MSG. It's just bad. Sometimes they do overpass it like that one PP yesterday but 95% of the time he's whining the pass was the right play.
