Are we seriously arguing this?So penalties are only bad if the opponent scores on the PP?
Are we seriously arguing this?
We all agree that all of those penalties are bad. But it’s really this simple:
8>2. And 3>1.
Both players took bad penalties. Gauthier took three times as many in his bad game than PDG. Again, I think PDG sits.
I see nothing that is half assed. There is a hard balance that needs to be found. But loosing and playing out the string plays in the mind. Maybe the minutes played in a race do more than those in playing out the string?
Is Kakko is not contributing to a playoff run? Lafreniere needs to step up his play. This up to him. He has to be noticed. That is also up to him. Reaunen needs to do something to stand out in the AHL before being promoted to play on a playoff race at the NHL level.
Like it or not the front office has deemed that less minutes in an environment where every game and every shift counts, is worth more to the kids than more minutes in an environment where winning comes second.
They may be onto something.
Well, he does.
It’s just taking longer than you would like, I think. Despite all the noise, Kakko has played pretty much every game over the past two seasons and improved a lot. And Lafreniere too. If you truly believe these guys were not the right picks or would have come in and been productive Top Six players under another regime, well, I can’t argue. That’s impossible for either of us to know. But aside from Andersson all the kids are playing and improving. Maybe they’d improve faster being spoon fed more minutes. Maybe not, though. In my opinion, the team is steadily improving and integrating a lot of young players at the same time. Consistency is an issue. But that’s to be expected, I’d say.I think the problem lies in that the playoffs should be a BONUS whereas the development of the kids should be the goal 3 years after the letter.
If these kids are not contributing anything meaningful to a playoff run, the actual benefit of the playoffs is hollow IMHO.
This seems to have turned into a half-assed rebuild after the little bit of success the team had at the endo of last season before COVID.
My eyes bleed when I read your posts.Kravtsov can do what Kakko does (which isn't much) and more. Trading Kakko before he loses all trade value should be a priority. Target a big center like Byfield.
This checks out. I believe Vitaly Kravtsov is Vince Pedrie in Russian. Maybe a Russian speaker can confirm this for me. Thanks in advance. At NYR site only other #74 was
Vince Pedrie (UDFA D from Penn State a few years back)
who never played actual NHL games (prob TC, and maybe preseason..)
