I'm a canes fan and I'm pretty meh about it. The title had me expecting more, I missed that part of the game last night.

Yeah I wasn't really too upset about this one either. It's just standard NHL dirty play, no worse than Neal whacking Toews in the face, or whatever else happens on a typical night.

I know we're all no-tolerance on concussions now, but this isn't the sort of thing that I'm worried about.

I hatethis play. I know that it wasn't overly vicious but you can see he meant to do it. For all of the hate that guys get on high hits, where it is literally a split second between a clean hit and a dirty one, this is a play that needs to be taken out of hockey.

That was a conscious decision made by Virtanen and, while Nordstrom wasn't injured on the play, it looks horrendous on Virtanen's part.

I'm just bummed it wasn't called. There was a ref looking at it and Virtanen himself looked surprised it wasn't called. He checked with the ref before skating back down the ice. I don't think it's more than a minor, but that's pretty obviously a roughing penalty.

It was a late game, wasn't against a big market team or a star player so in the wheel of justice's eyes it didn't happen.

This, stupid play but not a HUGE deal if anything it just adds on the Virtanen's list of stupid things he does in hockey.

It's just so pointless.

There's no positive outcome in a play like this. The other player either gets a concussion or nothing happens. Virtanen's teammates aren't going to go "Nice job pushing that downed guy's head into the boards, kid! Now we'll win this game for you!"

Take your frustrations of being a bad NHL player out by becoming a good one. Or throw some big hits.
