You do realize how ridiculous it is to need your goalie to pitch a shutout every night to win, no? Like zero margin for error? Teams that need this are not playoff teams.

Who cares? Hasek built a hall of fame career on being that guy, and missed the playoffs plenty of times. Top tier goalies play top tier hockey. Sway got top tier goalie money.

Nut up or shut up time has arrived. This is the National Hockey League. Korpi gets it.

And Hasek had to finally leave Buffalo to Detroit, a top scoring talented team, to win a Cup.

Korpi has a 2.38 GAA. It's not bc he's great either, the defense is benefiting him. No reason sway shouldn't be able to get near those numbers. He needs to be the 8 million aav goalie they paid him to be
Yes because he’s played against the far weaker teams.

He was amazing in Buffalo though regardless of offensive talent. Sway right now has terrible stats, and that has nothing to do with Boston's offense.

The issue isn't so much that he needs a shutout to win games, it's that at his current GAA the team needs to score 4 goals on average to win with him in net.

You're looking at this all wrong. It wasn't that they spent money on the goalie position that precluded them from signing a top 6 forward. It's that they're paying Peeke and Zadorov nearly 8 mill to be their bottom pairing. That's where the mistake happened. Stop me if you've heard this already, but they overpaid for bottom of the roster depth instead of filling top of the roster, skilled positions.

I just want there goalie to keep them in the game every night and so far Korpisalo has done that. They need to figure out the offense but in the meantime it’s nice not to let in 3-4+ goals a game. Looks like we’re heading back to a rotation which isn’t ideal going forward.

8 years, 8.25 - 9-10, 3.27 GAA, .885 SV%
8 years, 8.25 - 14-6, 2.43 GAA, .912 SV%
8 years, 8.25 - 9-9, 2.58 GAA, .912 SV%

Seems if you think you’re equal to your peers, you should play like it

He better get interested, lol. His contract is unmoveable, he saw to that. This is home now.
It’s alright the team sucks so why bother if your Swayman? Just wait until the team is good again and go back to being the stud that knocks out Toronto in the first round.

Would be great if he could pull his head out of his ass and get an attitude adjustment.

All the bullshit this past summer into Camp has come to roost and now he needs to own it.

Figure shit out Jeremy and the sooner the better.

Yeah they gotta get these goalies to at least 50-50 soon. The "play your way out" mentality is going to cost them too much.
I agree about the 50/50 split but what does it really cost them? Not having another first round exit? I'd rather they get a top 10 pick this year and work on not being fat and slow by the time next season starts.

Do we really want to split the starts and be wondering who should start in the playoffs again though? It’s ironic that Swayman’s contract is what radicalized me against Sweeney.

Facts!

We've always relied on elite goaltending in the cap era. He's gotta play his part now.

Yeah his bulldog mentality is nowhere to be found right now. He's been shelled three times already, and the more goals that go in the less it looks like he's turning in the effort. It's pretty scary.
Yep, not what you like to see 1 year into an 8 year contract
