As a center yes, his deficiencies are still there, he lacks the defensive instincts to be a starting NHL center and isn't much of a playermaker.

As a LW he has upside left, had 30 ES points last year, is on a 34 ES pace this year, despite spending a lot of time as a 4C.
Give me a bottom six LW who can give me 30-40 ES points on his salary and I'm very happy.

Laughton is a finished product.

May gain a little in some areas due to experience but nothing that changes his skillset dramatically.
He's been around for 6+ seasons. One would expect him to peak now before the wear and tear starts to slowly affect him as he gets closer to 30.
