As it always is, the mantra for Team Latvia at the 2016 IIHF U18 World Championship is to avoid the relegation round. But talking about doing it has been easier than accomplishing that goal as Latvia find themselves winless after three games at this tournament, with their final match of the preliminary round coming later today against a Russian squad that has an overtime win in two games.

Latvia’s most recent game was one to forget, a 12-1 pasting at the hands of the tournament host Team USA.… read more

Despite keeping the score close for much of their game against Finland, Team Denmark was unable to earn their first point at the 2016 IIHF U18 World Championship after a 4-1 loss to the Finns.
In what started off as a fairly tightly-played contest, Team Switzerland watched Sweden pull away in the final two periods to take an 8-1 win from the Swiss on Day 5 of the 2016 IIHF U18 World Championship.

The good news for the Swiss is that points earned in their first two games of the tournament helped them avoid the relegation slot in Group A.
