Nothing against Rust, but it's an easy pass for me. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

If Vegas has a need to clear cap Stastny is the obvious answer.

Rust is what’s right with Pittsburgh. No reason to trade him unless it clearly makes the team better, which this does not. Lateral swap at best

Smith and Marchy are to Vegas what Rust is to Pittsburgh. Plus, Rust is younger if I remember correctly.

Value ain't bad but not a priority trade. I'm not down for the trades for the sake of trades. That hasn't worked out well for us recently.

Marchy and Smith play so well together since the beggining of VGK, I think we deserve to enjoy this for a while still.

Bryan Rust + for Riley Smith or Marchessault

PIT gets a refresh on the wing and Vegas saves cap for a comparable player and gets either a 2nd round pick or a prospect from PIT.
Don't see a contending team getting worse intentionally. The downgrade isn't huge, but there are other ways to save cap if need be. A 2nd doesn't close the gap between Rust and Smith especially.

Do you mean buyout or trade? I can't see there being a trade unless there's retention as well. Also seems to leave a hole in C, disappointing postseason or not.

I don't think they'd have much of an issue moving him if they needed to. He's still a top 6 center only under contract for 1 more year. Worst case they retain a bit.

It's really the only thing that makes sense if they're deadset on tying up 12m+ between Fleury and Lehner. Glass would slide right into the Stastny hole. I think spending that much on goalies is a horrible idea, but I'm sure they're at least going to consider it.
