He will not bounce back with the Rangers. They insist oh hiring coaches who refuse to give young players a chance to develop. They should move him for a vet who might get to play.I fail to see how this is anything other than a good deal for the Rangers. Maybe Vegas exceeds the Rangers in total games played from this point forward (on Smith's current expiring contract). It's of course possible that Brisson gets 5 games or less the rest of his career and the 3rd round pick the Rangers got amounts to no better than that. In that case, Vegas got a good depth player for basically no one that plays NHL games.
On the other hand, I think there's a chance that Brisson could bounce back and be an NHL regular (it's far from a long shot just because he had a bad season, probably like 40/60), and then an early third has value. I would've taken like a mid 3rd for Smith, so getting an early 3rd and a prospect with some NHL potential is a great return.
Can Brisson play center or he's only going to make it in the NHL as a winger?
The team is a disaster because Vegas has traded every single viable prospect they’ve ever had.I don’t think acquiring Brisson is some coup, but the Silver Knights have been anemic offensively, and the two-best +/- on the team are +2 and +1. I would think his weak season could be attributed in-part to the team as a whole being a disaster.
Oh I don't mind the trades for either Tampa or Vegas, just funny teams are getting the band back together
big a kaliyev fan as i am(lol) that sounds terrible...K.
feels like a Brisson - Parssinen - Kaliyev 3rd line is a mini vegas misfits line. Is Laviolette the kind of coach to explore that?
He will be an ahl liferI get your point, but it's basically one bad year and he's only 23. Every other year has been sort of reasonable. He might only be like a 13F or 14F, but good organizational depth, at least. Hard to believe this year becomes the trend. Players sometimes just have bad years (maybe he's injured or having some personal issue or whatever). And there's a chance he could bounce back and makes the NHL as like a middle six forward.
Basically a 2nd round pick so late that it's technically a 3rd round pick? Makes senseIt’s the SHARKS 3rd rounder, so basically a 2nd.
Kind of annoyed that he made a toddler like stink about being traded out of Vegas, and in the end he got his way. That's a hell of a return for NYR, although Brisson has kinda stagnated this year.
Not even a little bit surprised that Smith is going back to Vegas. Dude basically pouted for the past 2 seasons after they traded him.
Edit: man I didn't realize how bad of a season Brisson was having. Still a win for the Rangers but damn, 19 points in 45 games as a 22/23 year old AHLer sucks. The Rangers better hope he bounces back.
Low key all the Drury trades since last season ended have kind of worked out.
Trading for Smith-W
Trading Trouba-Massive W
Trading Kakko-W/W for both teams
Trading for JTM-Massive W
Trading Lindgren-W/Massive W
Trading Smith-W
Glad you were able to figure it out.Basically a 2nd round pick so late that it's technically a 3rd round pick? Makes sense
i couldnt imagine selling as a Rangers fan when youre paying Shesterkin 12m and Panarin enters the final year of his contractIt’s the SHARKS 3rd rounder, so basically a 2nd.
Ya like who?Canadian teams were begging for him.
Other thread joke. His no trade list was basically all of Canada and Buffalo.Ya like who?
Got ya, either way the Habs wouldn't have taken him for free so no loss there.Other thread joke. His no trade list was basically all of Canada and Buffalo.
