25% shooting percentage and Vegas is like lets start negotiating

Ok?
dont understand locking up guys to these terms

22.2%. At a paltry 11%, cut his goals in half and he’s still contributing offensively while playing 15 minutes a night including PK and offers positional versatility at any spot up front including the ability to be a real face-off taking center when needed.

He may have sucked in New York as a bottom line player but he’s definitely a third line, versatile player in Vegas (he’s actually 6th on the team among forwards in even strength TOI/G) and $2.5 cap hit is pretty insignificant for that kind of usage. At age 26, 5 years doesn’t even take him out of his prime.

Seems like a pretty decent deal for both team and player here.

Solid deal for both team and player.
This year he is playing really well so far but let's say he becomes that 30 point forward. A 30 point forward that can play anywhere in the line up and any position. Is very valuable to have. If he only played wing I don't think he'd get this deal.

I was expecting AHL fodder with the way Rangers fans talked about him but he has massively surprised in his time here. He had 9 goals in 47 games strictly playing 4C in his first season here. Nobody expects him to keep up the current scoring pace but for 2.5m he doesn't need to to exceed the value of the contract.

Odd considering the cap increases. Wouldn't an established bottom 6 player ask for 2 or 3 years and hope their value is significantly higher by that 5th year?

He was ass for us (Rangers fan) but I'm happy for him. Sometimes a change of scenery does wonders.

Kelly McCrimmon has apparently had the voodoo stare the last few weeks insofar as being able to lock in decent players (McNabb and Howden) at favorable prices.

Howden has been yet another successful reclamation project for the VGK insofar as he sucked at NYR but blossomed here. Seems like 3/4th of the team are these second-chance guys.

Have damaged goods willing to go at bargain-basement prices? McCrimmon is interested.
