He’s a bit ageless. Still putting in a rock solid 19-20 minutes a night of non-nonsense, hard-nosed defensive play. He will be a pure bottom pairing old guy by the end of this but the AAV is fine.

I do think he’s been significantly underpaid basically his entire career - he’s truly been one of the bargains of the league his entire tenure in Vegas, so whether or not the Knights “ruthlessly” deal him at some point - at least he’d be being sent off with a nice retirement deal.

If the Theodore signing didn’t scream this was Pietrangelo’s swan song in Vegas, this one almost certainly does. Maybe he’s already let them know, he’s hanging em up after this year, but it’s gonna be tough bringing him back at $8.8 with the other two at $7.5 then this, and likely $3-$4 for Hague, and no goalies signed for next season yet.

Is Pietro rumored to be done? After seeing Theo and McNabbs deals I thought they may move Hague in the offseason. Hadn’t seen anything on Pietro.

I think he pretty much has to go given Hill is a UFA this year and Eichel will be one the year after plus Hague is RFA. They'll all take discounts probably but the cap won't increase enough to let cover their raises plus those for depth guys like Dorofeyev, Kolesar and Howden.

Interesting. Thought they'd let him walk like they did with Marchessault.

Have to think Hague is going to be on the block for some scoring help.

As much as Petro pissed me off in the playoffs with his careless penalties that led to goals against, i would honestly rather trade Hague or maybe even Whitecloud.

What is Vegas looking for Whitecloud?

Is it that bad? Next year they’d be at roughly 73 under contract. That would leave roughly 20.5 million based on projections, and they’d have to sign Hague, 2 goalies and then fill out 5 forward spots and 2 extras with either signings or guys in the system (this would be including Hutton as 7th D). If Hague is 3.5, and the goalies end up around 7 combined, they could fill the rest of the roster with bottom end contracts and/or not carry a 23 man roster most of the year. Not ideal, but still workable. They could also go cheap on goalies since Hill isn’t exactly lighting it up anyway.

Just doubt they’ll do that for just one year more of Pietrangelo. Can they squeeze his $8.8 in for the final season? Probably but it makes things real tight up front, and they’ll need to find goalie money somewhere too.

Leading up to Theodore’s extension, and after signing Hanifin, most thought they’d either trade Theodore this year and ride AP 2 more playoffs, or have this last year with all 3 of them, then force Pietrangelo out, next summer.

They’re just gonna need some flexibility and AP is that flexibility next summer now. We’ll see if he finishes up somewhere else or calls it a day, but good bet this is it for him in Vegas. A man who less than 18 months ago, put up one of the greatest defensive performances (in a playoff) we’ve seen since Lidstrom in 08’. So they’ll be a few suitors for a final run somewhere. If he wants it.

They have 14M next year with 14 signed, but that is with an 88M cap. The cap is projected to go up by as much as 6 million. That leaves Vegas with 20M to sign Hague, a goalie tandem, and fill out the roster. That seems tight, but doable.

Has there been any noise about Pietrangelo leaving? Unless he is one of those weirdoes from Ontario who fetishizes putting on the Leafs jersey when he has nothing left to play for in his career, I can't see him leaving. He has a NMC.

At best, he will get surgery for a bunch of nagging issues and return in the playoffs.

8.8 for 2 more years. I can't see him waiving unless it's to a playoff team he believes in.

I think they just have to go thin on Forwards.

Just going to have to go cheap for 20 million to fill the slots. It is what it is.

I'd trade Whitecloud for a F. They have a RD replacement in Korczak.
I think Hague is probably gone at some point, now 3 D locked in on the left side and I feel like his number will come in higher than Whitecloud's

I'd put the odds of him willingly walking away from nearly 19 million dollars while he's still an effective top pair D at extremely low personally
