It is interesting because I have heard the excuse after the Jets have a break then lay an egg that they were rusty. I have also heard they ate tired after too many games or too much travel. Sometimes we have to face facts Vegas is better and will always get the calls vs Wpg. This is only a close game because of Hall of fame helly. Thank the hockey gods for him!
There are no excuses after a few days off. You are either ready to play or you are not. A player coming back from a long injury can be rusty and not up to game speed but not the whole team.
Vegas is a good team who said they weren’t?
The Jets don’t need to apologize for having Hellebuyck maybe the league needs to apologize to the Jets for the BS officiating.

Veggie Cakes knows how to play the boys. There is no way this team will ever beat that. Its a question of pros playing with little kids or figure skaters. They got the house money to win.

vegas was the faster team as expected(6 days off and 3 in last 12) but f*** those refs, like how do you ignore the blatant interference on pionk but call that weak ass trip against demelo when they already had a powerplay
Hey, we’re trying to grow the game here :sarcasm:

The ref who called the penalty on DeMelo is 30 years old, he was with Kelly Sutherland today. I think Sutherland had a word with him after that, they cut to them on the short time out after the call. Inexperienced referee mistake I think.
Hopefully he gets sent back to the AHL! 🤞

I'm convinced the current structure of this team is not capable of beating a team like Vegas in a 7 game series

That’s not a new thing. Vegas is our cryptonite and have always been a bad match up in the playoffs.

Our core is not built for the playoffs but we are a solid regular season team which provides me with entertainment during our winters.

I'm sure the NHL would be fine if a Canadian team never won the SC ever again, they think everything is rosy in the States cause they keep expanding but they have fallen behind in popularity to soccer in the States.

Unless it’s us I do not want another Canadian City to win the cup. These are not national teams they are club teams. Misery loves company and I really don’t want Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton, Vancouver, or Calgary to EVER win a cup again. These teams don’t wear the Canadian crest they are our rivals and I take great joy in their pain.

In regular life I work hard to see the best in people and try to put more in than I take out. I “try” to be a good person.

As a hockey fan I can relax, let my hair down, put on my black Cowboy hat, and allow myself to be a petty, jealous, mean girl who relishes in the pain and failure of those miserable cocky fan bases. I stalk their PGT’s silently after their soul crushing end of season defeats………a gentle evil bad guy smile comes across my face, and my dark heart is full.

Slowly takes off his goalie mask, turns off his chain saw, the scene fades to black with ominous music track in back ground

If you can’t enjoy watching a first place team, maybe sports aren’t for you.
Maybe they are Vikings fan as well :sarcasm:
I am and although the Vikings are having a real good regular season you just know they aren’t going anywhere.
The Jets are having a much better season than most anticipated yet somehow you just know Lucy is gonna pull the football off the tee yet again.
( Hope not )

I've seen that scenario of the older guy telling the rookie he's made a mistake but trying to make it look like he's not telling him he screwed up, too many times to not recognize it. There are players on the ice older than that ref (and there are a few others in their early 30s this year), and he made the call probably not wanting to be responsible for missing a call that cost a team the game. Unfortunately he didn't seem to consider it would cost the Jets more.

I still watch some of most games they play. Generally the kid bedtime routine isn't done until the 2nd is almost over so I miss most anyway. I don't get too high on the big positives nor low on the negatives. It's ultimately entertainment so I don't let it bother me.

There's only one sports team out there that can still affect my mood and it's the English national soccer team, and they consistently find new and creative ways to ruin my day. One team is enough

Come on England. They always find a way.

Well said. I think that is a great marketing idea the Jets can use!

I am saying excuses have been made for this team having no rest and too much. I understand it has been a tough schedule but it is not the reason for example, KFC cannot clear a puck from his end or Stanley handles the puck like a grenade. I alos agree no need to apologize for helly never said we should but we should acknowledge when he is the reason they get a point out of that game.

What kills me about this is coaches and players are publicly held accountable and have to answer to the media when they f*** up. Refs get a free pass. “Handled internally”.

I realize it’s like this in all pro sports but it drives me crazy. How about some transparency?
See i agree with this exactly, the refs should give a interview just like coaches and players after games. They are getting paid and aren't working for free so why do they get total immunity.

People bitch about "game management" all the time... they say that "a call is a call"

But here we are complaining about the opposite

If we were down one with 5 minutes left and someone tripped Schief like that last call, we'd want a penalty too

Vilardi was definitely a penalty and a stupid one at that totally agree but that was a bad call on DeMelo especially from a ref with a blocked view.

I thought it was iffy too, but like I said... if the roles were reversed and that exact same thing happened vs us and the ref DIDN'T call it, we'd be bitching

The funny part is I do think that winning in the regular season helps sell tickets. Playoffs are really tough and it’s not everyone’s bag. I have reframed my fandome and I am not that worried about the playoffs anymore. It use to be REALLY important but now I take the games as they come. Still like winning allot more than losing but my give a shit factor has been recalibrated and I am enjoying my Jets relationship more now that its part time and I have put her in my friend-zone.

We’ll see if my new routine stands the test when we lose in the playoffs.

I'm the exact same

If as a fan the only way you'll be happy is if your team wins it all, you're setting yourself up for disappointment

Like everything in life, being a Jets fan is about the journey, not the destination for me

Do we employee professional athletes, who, travel like everyone else? Or is our team comprised of homeless people riddled with scurvy? Honestly. It's ridiculous.
Your denial of basic physiology is humorous

Go run a 10km every other day for 35 days and let me know how you start to feel. Throw in 16 flights and bedtimes after 2:00am for good measure. I'm sure that your performance won't suffer at all

It’s almost as if the other teams also have professional athletes and when one team of professional athletes has an advantage over another team of professional athletes, they have a better chance of winning.
