They do but they're all in this year. Martinez still isn't back yet so losing Hague wouldn't make much sense. Maybe they'd be happier to move him in the summer but not right now

Summer deal works for me. If it's a timeline thing, I'm ok with waiting till the draft.

Not sure that that Detroit offer would entice any team to trade anything.

Knights can’t afford to give up Hague right now. They can however be very interested in Nick Leddy or Staal as a rental from Detroit.

Definitely not Leddy. Maybe Staal. The Knights current defense is terrible at actually playing defense. Hague/Theo/Coghlan/Miromanov are all awful defensive players. Martinez and Mcnabb both being out at the same time is a huge blow. Just like earlier in the year when Martinez and Whitecloud were both out. If Martinez isn't coming back they desperately need a top 4 LD to play with Petro so Hague can get bumped back to the 3rd pair where he belongs.

They have some trouble after their top 3 moving the puck in transition. Leddy would help that a lot. I mentioned Staal for the solid consistency and his attitude. They can do a lot worse than either.

People are going to be surprised how many teams are after Leddy because of his transition game. Pittsburgh is where I think he probably ends up but there will be plenty of teams in on him. If Staal is moved, he’s picking where he goes even though he probably ends up back in Detroit for another year no matter if he’s a rental or not. Vegas, Colorado, Calgary, Tampa, Toronto, Florida for Staal as a depth dman.

Puck moving is not an issue in the slightest. They have 1 of Theo or Petro on the ice for nearly 50 minutes each game. Their issue this year has been with defending. As of 2 days ago they were tied with Montreal for last in the league in high danger chances against. They've had less than 5 games this year with all 3 of Martinez, Mcnabb, and Whitecloud in the lineup. That's forced too many suspect defenders like Hague and Coghlan to take minutes and matchups they can't handle.

It’s an enormous issue for Vegas after their top 3. They’re playing 3 dmen every night, 4 these days, who have problems in their own zone because they don’t move the puck well… at all. Especially with the cast of forwards they have.

You constantly see these blind, cross ice passes to relieve the slightest pressure. Especially from the circles to their own blue line. The area you shouldn’t see this.

That comes from players who panic with the puck to much. What’s frustrating, is these are not errors down-low. They’re constantly hesitant to make a play with the puck and then transition. Sometimes that could be just a quick pause, and then move it. They just move it and hope for the best. Blindly in many cases. McNabb, Coghlan, Hague, Hutton and Whitecloud, to a lesser extent, can’t recover like Petro does either and there lies a big problem.. It hasn’t helped with Theodore really not having a good year either.

They need a little more ice in their veins. Leddy has more of that and would really even things out. It’s funny cause just last night in the Calgary game, he and Seider were being forechecked relentlessly but in one sequence both players made two moves with the puck and moved it along. It reinforced why Leddy will have plenty of suitors. If that was the players I just mentioned, the pucks going to end up in their own net.

The game has changed a lot for dmen since my days. Even 15 years ago these same players wouldn’t be such a liability. Unfortunately you need at least 4 dmen who can carry the puck, make those slight change of direction or pause moves and get the puck up ice quickly and where it’s supposed to go.

This was the Knights downfall in seasons one and two during the playoffs. Martinez helped alot but they still need at least one more player who they can count on in transition. Leddy does that.

They won’t be able to afford a Lindholm, so it’s going to have to be a second tier rental. Leddy fits that bill. The Islanders miss him tremendously this year and Detroit’s scoring chances generated from having two players like Leddy and Seider, who are sound in transition, is night and day from last year.

The good that doesn’t show up on score sheets far outweighs his weakness around his own net.

It doesn’t have to be Leddy but it better be someone who brings that ability. Especially if Martinez isn’t healthy come playoffs because they probably can’t afford bringing two Dmen in.

The Knights are a mess right now. Much of it to do with injuries, etc, but if they get healthy and add another really good transition dman, they’ll have a chance to do some damage.

Disagree with a whole lot of that completely and I've seen every game this team has played in it's existence, but I'm not going to write a novel as to why.

I do think it's interesting that you mention Lindholm though when he is literally exactly what I'm describing the Knights needing. A defense first top 4 LD. Leddy is nothing like Lindholm.

However I do agree with the bolded IF they got Martinez/Mcnabb/Whitecloud all in at the same time. Then the argument would be valid to go for more of a puck mover, but like I said before the biggest issue is they don't have anyone that can replace what Martinez and Mcnabb can do defensively.
