Thank you Vanek for not allowing us to dwell in the basement for without your offensive contribution and the vanishing act the rest of this team pulled, I fear we would have been worse than Columbus was last year.

I know you might cool off eventually but you sir have been wonderful. :yo:

I prefer to ***** in sports forums. and I can't ***** about vanek. he is one of the best players this year so far. he is on the mark with his shots. he is making some nice plays and maybe it's just me but has his skating randomly good amazing? not that he was a bad skater but he is fast and slick.

This should be a top line (mostly V+P) appreciation thread. Vanek has been amazing, but Pominville has been terrific as well. Like, did you see that pass by him today? That was incredible.

I agree, Pommer shouldn't be overlooked. These guys are carrying the load and I can't imagine how frustrated they are right now.

don't forget hodgson either. everyone *****ing about how good kassian is doing and it's a bad trade. I think cody has more or the same amount of points. maybe not as many goals but I think it's close or the same

I've always been a Vanek fan boy. Nice to see him live up to my imagination of how good he is. ;)

Suddenly I'm getting worried about Vaneks upcoming free agency. If Sabres stays a 8-10 team in the East, with Lindy and his system in place, why would Vanek want to re-sign?

vanek still has next year. for a couple years vanek while probably the best sabres skater, didn't seem like he was worth the 7.1 million. this year so far he has played amazing. I think when he does sign again it will be for 5.5 or around that range. I hope he stays with the sabres but who knows.

Our top line has been amazing so far. they are holding this team on their backs. Very impressed by all 3. Good to see I'm right about Hodgson being no.1 talent.

Vanek looks like a magician right now. Every play he has been making has looked absolutely beautiful. So fun to watch even though no one else can do jack ****.

Well of coure, Pominville is a beast as well, him and Vanek together are foolishly good. Hogdson has been great to but obviously he's been carried a bit by P and V's play. But in no way has he been bringing them down.

I would go as far to say that right now they are definitely the best line in the NHL. Too bad no one else remembered how to play hockey this year though.

I really think Pominville is under-appreciated by Sabres fans (including me) and underrated when compared against other players in the league

Including me too. I guess it's because Pommers rarely does anything spectacular. He's not the fastest, the dangler, the shooter, the checker or anything. But what he is is an allround player that does everything at a really good level. And the chemistry he has with Vanek allows for some fancy plays too. There's already been a couple of behind the back passes to goals, from both of them. I love watching them play.

Also Hodgson of course feeds from this, but that's not to say anyone can apply for the job as center between the beasts. It's actually a bit like with Kassian and the twins in Vancouver; they'll get most of the job done and he just has to show up when they decide it's time to finnish the play. The problem is knowing when and where that is. No one else on the ice knows, so it still takes some hockey IQ and skill.

I'm happy the Sabres finally has a really good top line, a go to line. I'm convinced that as long as they keep it up they will drag the rest of the team with them.

I'd say Kassian has the easier job of the two between he and Hodgson. Cody is also playing center, so his responsibilities and importance in the D zone are much greater and more substantial.

And he missed a game due to injury.

Yeah, I think he's earning his paycheck so far this season.

:yo:

On a side note, Ovy has 4 points so far this season. I can't imagine the level of panic over there.....

Everytime he's on the ice, he looks dangerous.
He has the puck on his stick so much more this year and his playmaking is absurd.

The best thing Darcy has done in the last year was making that possible.

Yet they're only 2 points behind Buffalo. Pretty sad to have the current leading scorer and still only have 5 points in 9 games.

Three creative players working together unselfishly with tons of heart. Gotta love that top line. Exciting to know they can remain a Buffalo staple moving forward. Cody is just going to get better playing with those two.

Being tied for worst in the conference in goals allowed and only having one line that is consistently scoring will do that to a team.

Appreciating Vanek? Ugh, I see bad things coming  :scared:

The guy only plays good if I verbally abuse him constantly during games, that's the secret. You gotta find the negative aspects about lazy ass Vanek's game, even when he's having a five point night.

So, if anyone, you guys should thank ME.

He has earned it every year. Without TV and others like Miller this team would be lost.
