There is nothing about striping the team down but there could be a tit for tat trade that makes the team stronger for the playoffs.
Of course Pettersson makes the headlines but what about the other trade asset of massive value, the one nobody talks about?
Hronek.
A RFA like Pettersson but could be redundant as long as the Canucks have Hughes.
Tocchet has been keeping away from Hughes on the PP, he has been getting less time on the PP and with Hughes for some time now.
Joshua, a large 3rd line grinder starting to show some scoring punch.
Hoglander, becoming a mini dynamo, getting his scoring touch and a small cap hit.
Garland, for the 3rd year his name comes up but this year he is carrying a line by himself. Still 2 more years on his contract at 5 mil but might be worth a look.
Boeser, scoring goals. one more year to FA, usually a good time to trade a future FA, the TDL gets a team 2 playoffs, contract at 6.75 mil. might need a little retention or a sweetener depending upon the return.
Myers, Zadorov, Cole are all FA's next year. But should the team dismantle the best defence corps they have had in last 10 years?
Defence wins championships and Vancouver has one of the best at long last.
DeSmith, a veteran backup goalie that was looking really good for quite awhile, Canucks do have Silvos in the minors and that other kid Topolio.
Thanks to the defence being as good as it is and Demko back to form some of the forwards could be replaced with bigger faster players with maybe less scoring prowess. The playoffs are a different animal.
Without the knowledge of what EP does and that is a bug in the soup is there a path of half way between all in and build for possible life after.
Would Rutherford/Allvin do a 3 or even 4 team trade?
Can two trades open a bunch of trade possibilities? Trade for Tanev, Hughes daddy. What would RHD Hronek who is tracking towards a 70 point season, get in return and who would try to make that deal?
For the most part this group is new and winning so changing some players might not damage the team too much.
Canucks have made the playoffs so all trades going forward now are about the playoffs and next season.
Hronek for Severson and Sillinger
Hoglander for Mittelstat
