Yeah Desharnais has not been good but our coaching staff much prefers tall defensive/physical D-men over anything.

Canucks also already have Forbort and Brannstrom as bottom pair LD's.

Nah, we needed the right handed defenseman with Hronek out for 2 months. Otherwise we're down to Myers, Juulsen and Friedman

Derek Forbort is on IR and has only played in 4 games.

I would do this deal from a Canucks perspective as acquiring Gustafsson would allow for more versatility with the defensive pairing as Gusta can play on his offside which he may be better suited for in Vancouver.

He's back any day now, and missed a few games before his injury because his father passed away.

I assure you from what we know of this management and coaching team, they have zero interest in replacing Forbort for someone like Gustaffson.

OP, this is actually a no brainer for both teams!

Yzerman instantly accepts this & Allvin instantly rejects it.

The Walman Special (adding a 2nd to trade a dman you recently signed) probably isn’t enough to motivate the Canucks. It’s just a bad fit for the Canucks. They’d be crazy to trade a big, SCF experienced, defence oriented, PKing defenceman for another smallish offensive “PP specialist" dman.

Bad trade for the Canucks aside, I do like what you’re trying to do here. It’s a long shot but it would be nice to find a “hockey trade” for Gus that can help out the PK.
