Take a look at comparable players. His hockey card stats are comparable to Sergachev. Jared Spurgeon is another one. Difference being those two are a lot better defensively but that’s not a consideration when you play big minutes and put up points as a defenseman.
His point production will take a hit in Vancouver. He was splitting pp1 with Seider in Detroit, he’s gonna get scrap pp2 time here. Also riding a high pdo this year.

I suspect he’ll extend for around $6M-6.5M per unless he ends up on pp1 next to Hughes

OK...I can now speak...after 4 hours of being speechless.
This is such a "make me look good now" move by the GM it's unbelievable. Nothing personal to Hronek but this move makes no sense if the team intends to be competitive long term. The only thing this does is guarantee a middling, playoff bubble team for the next half decade. Do they really think this guy is the next coming of Victor Hedman? If it turns out that way I'll stand corrected.

40~ points and 22 min/game landed Serg an $8.5M extension and that’s without the right shot premium. Unless Hronek’s production drops significantly next season, he’ll be looking at $7.5M minimum on a longterm extension at 26 years old. Hell, Allvin might extend him this offseason.

So nothing to refute my point. Exactly what I expected from you.
You actually know nothing about hockey if you think Hronek is going to ask for $8M+ at his current pace.

Cale Maker makes $9M
Miro Heiskanen makes $8.45M
Quinn Hughes makes $7.85M
John Carlson makes $8M
Alex Pietrangelo makes $8.8M
Aaron Ekblad makes $7.5M

You think Hronek is anywhere even close to the level of these players? Like I said, let me know where you're getting the bud because it's hitting good.

Or you just have no idea how hockey works.

No, we did not need another small, offensive defensive and you are insane if you think a PP QB was a need here.
Of course the guy who plays 22 mins a night is only considered a "PP QB".

Only Canucks fans man...

I'm not utterly convinced it will. He's had fewer PP minutes than Seider over the past two years so this isn't some guy coming in totally propped on minutes he won't get here.

Also Detroit is a terrible offensive team. Hronek led them in scoring with 26 points a couple years ago. He's 2nd right now with 38 points. His PDO is good this year but he's also going to be surrounded by a lot more skill now than he was before.

His age fits in with the rest of our core players...EP is only a year younger...They will all grow /deteriorate together.

Or are you talking about the core group after EP,QH, and Demmer..?

Not what I said, learn to read. You are trying so hard to defend this steaming pile of dogshit it’s hilarious. And when you fail at that you have a tantrum and resort to insults.

From what I’ve read on the the athletic around the time Serg signed, Tampa operates uniquely, they get their guys to sign under market value for RFA year contracts with the understanding that theyll bend over a bit for the player on UFA years.

That could be false info so who knows.

There was definitely some sticker shock around the league when they locked up guys like Serg and Cirelli.

I don’t even like this Hronek deal but I’d be pretty shocked if he’s making $7M+ on his next deal. But perhaps he will be and Yzerman sold high to let another team deal with overpaying him.

It’ll be really interesting to follow.
