Hronek has 22 even strength points. That alone would put him second on the Canucks in defenseman scoring. How is he not an upgrade?Hronek is a good player. But he's not an upgrade...at defending. He's more of an offensive/PP specialist. Half of his points this season are on the PP - and we know he's not supplanting Hughes on the Canucks PP.

He's not even really a "puck-moving" defenseman because he's not great at exiting the zone with control. He's not great at retrieving the puck under pressure. He's very poor at defending in transition. These things are all major weaknesses of the Canucks which Hronek doesn't fill.
I’m fine with the player but we overpaid given the Chychrun trade for a better player.Hronek has 22 even strength points. That alone would put him second on the Canucks in defenseman scoring. How is he not an upgrade?
This group has been right about most of their professional player decisions so I'll trust their evaluation of Hronek until proven otherwise.
He’s cost controlled for one more season before he’ll be looking for $8M+ longterm.Canucks go out and acquire a 25 year old #2/3 RD that's cost controlled.
Drance is the biggest loser alive
EP has one more year on his contract.....but they will likely want to sign him during the summer, as they did with JT, so we don't have to go through the whole season wondering if we can get him signed, like we did with Bo, and then have to trade him!Yup and the team is already over the cap for next season, has little in the way of cheap ELC, has a number of holes to fill, and also have to sign EP.
On defense, I'm not sure that this is true. They traded for Dermott, Stillman and Bear but none of these seem like real hits to meThis group has been right about most of their professional player decisions so I'll trust their evaluation of Hronek until proven otherwise.
Maybe they move Hughes?Half his points are on the PP, good luck keeping that up behind Hughes.

3rd time I've asked you to provide a source for these "reports" you always seem to have
I think you're making it up

Take a look at comparable players. His hockey card stats are comparable to Sergachev. Jared Spurgeon is another one. Difference being those two are a lot better defensively but that’s not a consideration when you play big minutes and put up points as a defenseman.Bro, Hronek is not going to make close to $8M LMAO. What are you smoking bud?
That Royal Canin dogfood looks good thoView attachment 660556sort of concerning that he's got the highest on ice shooting percentage, sv%, and PDO of his career (over 100) in a "breakout" season.
So maybe it’s more accurate to say that this is exactly the type of deal Francesco would make.Exact type of trade Benning would make. Absolutely astonishing.

Your getting a 25 year old sure thing (and a RHD to boot)..This player is inline with the age of EP,QH,TD...I dont think FA had anything to do with this, JR sets the course for hockey ops, and he initiated a 2 year retool...as he said he would when first hired. We overpaid, will miss out big time on a strong draft, and instead get a 25 yr old rather than a couple of players with years of ELC (which are long shots but WTF). All in all I am disappointed that we caved to FA wish to speed up the process. I think we f***ed up big time. This will make us slightly less mediocre in the short term, and screw up our optimism 3 - 5 years from now.
Well the early rumours were that Pittsburg was the dance partner in a trade involving Miller, but now Friedman is reporting that Mikael Granlund is the Pens target and the return is a 2nd rounder. Not the kind of defenseman we needed but I'm guessing they are going to move Miller to recoup draft picks and clear cap space. I'll be patient to see what they have planned before I judge this deal.
So nothing to refute my point. Exactly what I expected from you.Hronek will be lucky to get 7M.
8M+...
BC bud hitting good.
