Canucks fans: YOU HAVENT IMPROVED THE DEFENSE AT ALL WHAT ARE YOU DOING??? MORE WINGS???

Canucks go out and acquire a 25 year old #2/3 RD that's cost controlled.

Same Canucks fans today: OMG THIS TRADE IS A DIASSTER WOW FIRE ALLVIN
Toxic ass fanbase.
Your black / white oversimplifications really don't do much to move the conversation forward.
Most agree this is a decent player.
This isn't a deal you make now because it doesn't leverage the full power of the picks.
It's an overpayment because you're paying for a player at a new peak. It's always riskier to buy high, because the player has to continue to play at that level just to meet expectations.
It doesn't match up well to where they're presently sitting in the standings, and thus it weakens your own picks values, of which the Canucks no longer have a surplus, so that matters even more.
It's another small defender who's known (by his own fan base) to be most productive on the PP and isn't great on the defensive end of the game. So other than being a better player than most of the junk the Canucks have, it's a huge payment for a player who's not the ideal fit for the club.
The previous teams fans were generally surprised by the overpayment for the player.
The player is cost controlled for one full season.
These are just a few very reasonable criticisms of the trade.
You use the bolded so frequently, you should just make it your tag line. It will likely save you hours of typing.
