Things the Jackets need:
  • RHD
  • A #1C
  • Another high-quality prospect or two
  • Futures in general, really
Things the Jackets do not need:
  • LHD of any kind (current, future, top pairing, bottom pairing, puck-moving, defensive, whatever)
  • Wingers of any kind (current, future, top line, depth, AHL, ECHL, All-Star, we got 'em all)
  • Long-term high-value contracts (gets in the way of signing the youth we're developing)
Given this list of priorities, how about y'all tell us what the Jackets' response to this trade proposal is likely to be.

Replace Hoglander with Pearson and the trade is a lil more balanced

...and becomes even more utterly unacceptable to the Jackets, but, hey, you do you.

I don't see the Jackets considering this at all without retention on OEL....or at all really.

OEL + Boeser alone is $15m in cap space long term. Yeah the Jackets can fit that now, and they're not bad players, but it locks you into mediocrity. Save that room for better players.

Thats pretty awful for Columbus. The 1st and Roslovic could get Boeser. Nyquist is a decent 20 goal experienced winger who probably holds similar value to Hoglander (but they wouldn't be traded in a deal alone).

So OEL is the odd one out and Columbus have Werenski, Gavrikov and Bean at LD at present anyway.
