Vancouver get arguably the better player, while dumping the final years of Eriksson's and Holtby's contract

Buffalo get an offensively gifted young C to replace Eichel, an unprotected 1st in 2022, and a veteran goaltender to mentor UPL next season. If Pettersson and Dahlin are friends, it may help ensure the two countrymen spend the bulk of their careers together in Buffalo

Unless Benning gets canned in the off-season, Vancouver is going to walk into next season with a poorly constructed roster and that 1st will likely be top 10 again. The difference between Eichel and Pettersson isn't a high-end draft pick and a pair of one year cap dumps don't change the value.
