If I am the Raps when Siakam and Barnes are back we utilize our bench which than becomes a strength. Resting players for the long season and not playing them crazy minutes.

Starting 5 - FVV, OG, Barnes, Birch, Siakam
Next 5 - Trent, Achiawa, Banting, Dragic, Micheylic
Fighting for minutes: Boucher, Watannabe, Flynn

The hope is that they can make a deal with Boucher and Dragic to someone for one useful player. We need Flynn to continue to develop. Another 3 and D wing would be nice. Does Dallas have anyone that fits that mold for those 2 players? Reggie Bullock?
dragic has been healthy scratched for 3 games now(all wins) i dont see him as a rotation player with yuta fighting for minutes. yuta is a great defender and by all acounts his shot is much improved over last year(hes also 6'8 or 9) hes going to be an important player going forward imo.

re: center - I really like Jakob Poeltl who spurs fans are raving about. A 7'1, 250 glass clearing C with a good two-way game and work ethic is just what we need. He's been a bit of a revelation this year offensively but he's always been an underrated player. He would be such a perfect fit here with our need for a C and the defensive identity the Raps play with.
him and siakam back in the day with the 2 man game for the benchmob was fantastic. not sure he fits the vision of THIS team though, that position is a tough call.

edit: i think myles turner could be great on this team and the pacers seem like they cant or wont play him and sabonis together.

banton has clearly passed flynn on the depth chart, and i doubt they take barnes out of the starting 5 at this point, could be wrong though.
you also missed a guy who has put up 16 and 15 points and has provided us a real spark the last 2 games in svi, and you missed yuta too. dragic wont be played over them.

Agreed, I think you can mix and match the 2-3 spots as needed.

ye, the thing about "positionless basketball" is that you can mix and match a bit easier at least, scoring with the bench might always be an issue though unless they put barnes there. the real problem is we have 1 playable center. the other 2 are liabilities at the moment which is making things very difficult. maybe champagnie gets some minutes since he at least plays within the system and is a very effective rebounder depsite his size vs precious and boucher, the shitty thing about boucher is that hes our only real shot blocker so him playing like this really hurts, at least siakam can block shots decently when he comes back.

GTJ showing he belongs in the future core with Barnes and OG and possibly Banton too.

They are 5-3 without Siakam, hmm... Are they going to be even better when he returns? Or are they just better without him?

I don't think they are better without him, the win just shows how good some of our young guys are and how elite the coaching and developmental staff is...they got Svi looking like Bruce Bowen out there.

Oh Dragic has been healthy scratched?

That’s hilariously ironic

the unfortunate thing is that his being healthy scratched eats away at his value. If the team wants something if any consequence for him by the deadline he needs to look like a halfway decent, employable player.

Meh, screw him.

He made his bed with his comments, and his piss poor effort and performance in camp

I'm a fan of both Poeltl and Turner. I was a little sad when we traded Jak but obviously it was for the greater good. He would definitely solve the hole for a true, big C and he plays with Raptor defensive intensity, although I'm not sure about his fit with the Raptor offence. Myles Turner is probably a better fit overall considering both sides of the ball. Turner has a similarity to another player I've always liked, Aaron Gordon, who was consistently good in Orlando but never found his way to being great and hasn't quite fulfilled his potential. Just like Gordon moving to Denver might be the way for him to unlock the next level, I think Turner needs to move on from Indiana to see if he can take the next step. Whether we could realistically get Turner is another question, should he end up on the market. There would be lots of suitors and I don't think we are at a point where we should be trading (significant) future assets.

at this point i would even consider trading boucher for marvin bagley if boucher cant get it together, the beauty of our org is we have a better chance at fixing deficient players than any other.

My internet went down about 30 minutes before the game last night. Very unfortunate, sounds like it was maybe the most exciting game we've played since the playoffs. Oh well.

You can watch the replay...... ;-)

Possible sure, but not quite the same. Not that big a deal anyway I guess, there should be lots of great games this season. :)
until we just realize...that was the last good game the raptors plays this season...all goes down hill now....3 game winstreak...more like longest losing streak in history...Gary Nylund realizes it was truly his last chance.

Cool team.
Interesting depth.
Mykhailiuk seems like a confident guy. Flynn hasn’t busted into playing time yet, Johnson and Champagnie looked interesting. The team develops tweeners so well.
All that expiring money on Boucher and Dragic could get put to good use.
Fun year to follow.

this is what I was thinking when I heard of this...lowers his value crazily.
someone like dragic will have value regardless, based of his career as a whole and his playoff performances. hes a known commodity and a solid career shooter. while not playing him doesnt help his value of course, i dont believe it hurts his value a great deal either., at least as of yet.

Did the Raptors seriously go through a one year rebuild just to become very good again?

Philly could use the example lol.
