I wouldn't say messed up - taking a chance that Giannis hit free agency was worth losing Ibaka. Anyhow, it turned out to be a blessing - made our tank job easier and we ended up with Scottie.

Oh i agree, im just saying this had nothing to do with ownership not giving Masai the funds.

Raps offered Ibaka $14M.
Serge got $9M AAV the Lakers and Gasol got $2.7M with the Clippers = $11.7M
Raptors ended up paying Baynes (7.7M), Len ($2.2M) and Bembry ($1.7M) =$12.7M

Had Ibaka and Gasol stayed, the Raotors would have payment them almost double what they got.

Trent Jr. got $17.3M AAV
Norm got $18M AAV

Keep in mind the luxury tax - we had to stay below it this year due to the way repeater tax works. Last year those salaries may not have mattered since as u say we paid Baynes, but this year we are one mil over the tax as of now. We can get below it with a Dragic trade or buyout or even by releasing Dekker...but if we still had Ibaka on the books this year, things would get more complex.

fought hard again, despite his 17 assists, i dont want FVV running this offense :( he nearly had a triple doube along with points and turnovers. 4th quarter FVV is what i want.

Barnes is so good. I'm no expert but it sure seems like passing on Suggs to take Barnes was the genius move. In genius Masai we trust!

In my little viewings and my complete amateur opinion he looks like the total package. Can handle the ball and distribute. He has size and the defensively ability to guard a lot of positions. He seems quite athletic. His shot isn’t awful but once he gets that more polished idk…sky could be the limit.

Ya that's exactly how I see it as well. I would only add that his attitude is a big bonus. He's coachable, eager, humble, not selfish, he's basically a coaches dream in more ways than one.

The only other Raptors prospect I've ever seen who impressed me this much this early was Vince Carter. And I believe Vince was two years older than Barnes when he entered the NBA.

Obviously, they're totally different players in almost every way, but you can see the potential to be one of the top players in the game.

Agreed. I'm counting on it happening cause you just never know but the potential is absolutely there. If you told me that 5 years from now, Scottie would be a top 5 player in the NBA, it wouldn't surprise me a bit.

I think getting Siakam back will make a big difference in converting close losses into victories.

He's probably our best player so of course, getting him back will be huge. I'm excited thinking about what this team will be like when he's back and in game shape again, and even more excited thinking about what this team might be like 3 years or so from now.

It's still early but reading back at the reaction when the pick was made is fascinating. Im happy Barnes is winning people over with his play.
i was watching a bunch of scottie stuff and what shocked me was in the game vs boston, it was the first time in like 4 years hes had more than 13 shots in a game, to me thats a crazy stat. clearly the coaching staff is telling him to shoot and be more aggressive, if he develops that mindset the sky is the limit since one of his biggest"negative" points as a prospect was always that he was a little too unselfish and team 1st type of player, which is a pretty good negative to have as far as negatives go. hes really not the player that most scouts were saying he was going into the draft (outside of one guy who had him at #2) so its understandable that alot of people were hesitant about the pick. Oh, and his jump shot looks completely different than it did in college already lol.

I have multiple 100-level pairs to Friday's game available in sec 118 and 121.

If interested, I will send email proof of the tickets, accept payment by etransfer, and then send them to you by ticketmaster transfer.

With the emergence of Birch and Precious, I wonder if we look at moving Boucher and Dragic in a package deal
