No it’s not an own goal. Syracuse pulled their goalie on a 5-on-3 and it didn’t work out
If I’m honest, that’s exactly what I was thinking “dumbest thing I’ve ever seen”. Like seriously, what was the coach thinking?Imagine being the coach who causes an opposing team to post “THAT’S THE DUMBEST THING WE’VE EVER SEEN” on social media
I actually prefer 4 on 3 than 5 on 3….i like more space and less bodies to worry about handling the puck…adding a 6th skater just doesn’t work for me. I see it near the end of a game when you are just creating chaos and throwing everything at the net, but for extended play I don’t like itI feel like a 6 on 3 is just too confusing for the players on offense out on the ice. Not to mention I highly doubt teams after practice this scenario because it hardly ever happens.
This was 10 minutes into the game and they were leadingYet if it worked he'd look like a genius.
Remember when Roy would pull the goalie super early & now it's the norm...
Dumb coach. Maybe an even dumber attempted pass.
I mean he can.... By keeping the goalie in.That’s what I was thinking. 6 on 3 and he passes it directly to a defender. Coach can’t account for something like that.
Ovechkin is going to volunteer to start killing penalties now!
I don't think it's even that dumb to try. It's the AHL. Seems like a fine place to try experimeting with things like this. You know what? I'm glad somebody tried it.
It's time for a North American team to try and pull their goalie in OT. It has already happened in the SHL several times with wins to the team that did it.You know what? I'm glad somebody tried it.
It's the AHL. Winning the game may be a secondary objective behind developing players and systems for the NHL club.6 on 3 is too crowded and the offensive guys don't have room to move and quit skating. I'm shocked they tried this. Maybe late in the game if you're down, but otherwise wow.
Me too, but I'm upset at the result. I wouldn't have done it while up but it's a legitimate strategy and much more often than not will be successful, and history supports that. It's 6 on 3, there's almost no situation where one of those 3 players should get a clear shot at the empty net.You know what? I'm glad somebody tried it.
