I actually don't mind the jersey for this upcoming season. Not bad.

When they get their name trademarked etc I hope there's options to change the color suiting the name of the team.
I feel like the are going to continue the powder blue as the base. It ties in with the Jazz without mimicking the Jazz, which is I how understand Smith wants this to feel and they aren't going to completely reverse colors after establishing a basic color look and feel to their crowds this year.

I do think and hope we see it "zhuzhed up" in final form...ie, as others have speculated...maybe the black becomes a dark purple or maybe like Seattle and Vegas use little accents of bright red to their base colors, perhaps a tertiary or even 4th color (not suggesting red of course, just that there are things you can do with little pops of that extra color, whatever it is).

To be fair the ownership group had only been in discussions to establish a team in Utah since *checks notes* early 2022.

I'm probably missing some crucial context somewhere, and I realize the Coyotes have been freshly buried, but I didn't think they'd need an entire season before deciding on a permanent name or branding.

Probably as good as it can get going with no name. Pretty tough to establish a brand without it.

It’s lame, don’t get me wrong, but you can only write “Utah” across a jersey so many ways…

It actually is pretty original for NA, and better than the rest of those horrible options for names.
they are picking a name - this is temporary…

I almost hope that Utah wins the Stanely Cup right away now just to have Utah Hockey Club branded on the Cup and on their banner rather than their eventual permanent branding.
There’s zero chance they are winning the cup next year

No. It's a Hockey Club.
What's the difference between a joke and a Hockey Club?

Colours r shit. Branding is shit. Jersey's r shit...if this is the first hint at what the Fanatics/ NHL contrac is like, I might as well stop watching hockey altogether. I'm running out of reasons2 do so and this isn't helping

So Utah is so unique that it borrowed an idea from the 1967 Penguins

I get the timeline was short and everything but it still feels like a missed opportunity. This is a one-time opportunity to celebrate your inaugural season and these jerseys will forever be etched in your history. Do something fun with it. One day these will be throwbacks for a Winter Classic or anniversary season.
Honestly, I think these would work under those circumstances as well. There have certainly been worse debuts, and brand consistency doesn't always last that long. Toronto used to be green.

They may well have it figured before then, but they need to go into the draft and free agency with something.

Remember when Winnipeg got a second chance and we didn't know what they were going to be called? This is Scheifele's draft picture:

Do we really need more of that?
