Came to our board to post about Keller getting the C for the pre-tournament game, and you beat me to it!

Pretty cool to see. I wonder if he'll also wear the C for the tournament proper.

Wow, that Team USA roster...for the AZ people I counted 7 people with some sort of Arizona ties, either by playing here for the Coyotes or ASU or being born here or both? a full third of the team....

...and 2 on Team Canada, including....Brendan Perlini?

Looks like Vejmelka got the win with Czechia.

He did, but I watched the game and he played quite poorly. The third goal that Switzerland scored wasn't really on him at all, but he should have stopped goals 1, 2, and 4. The Czechs overall did not play very well, but nor did the Swiss really. On the other hand, Vejmelka made a couple key saves in overtime to save the game, and the Czechs escaped with an overtime win.

Also, David Pastrnak had a pathetic penalty shot attempt that was saved, so that was pretty funny.

Can't watch the game, but I notice multiple matching penalties for roughing and unsportsmanlike conduct. Anyone care to summarize the general tenor/tone of the game? Seems a bit fiery.

It just finished, and didn't really strike me that way. It is, however, the IIHF where the standard of play is "softer" if you know what I mean, with how the officials call the game. Sometimes you see stuff that probably wouldn't even get called as a penalty by NHL standards get called as 5 and a game at this tournament.

if Keller thought he was going to prove he belongs on the Olympic roster in this tournament, he’s failing miserably. He’s been invisible so far. Completely outworked, even by nations like Hungary.

First10 days are a group party, then get it together for a few and try to win.
