Genuinely was curious, that sounds about right they barely had anyone worth claiming on the entire roster before that

He is not an NHL player, look to the main difference in the Wild’s GA this year vs last year and then add the previous seasons where he didn’t play. Jake Middleton’s splits with Mermis vs Faber and Spurgeon is as drastic as you can get.

Takes bad angles, doesn’t trust his teammates and generally runs around like a headless chicken in his own zone. Good skater and flashes puck skills now and again, but not an offensive producer at this level.

Määttä was largely considered bottom pairing fodder--has been an above-average top 4 D for two months in Utah.
Cole didn't fall off drastically as many anticipated.
Kesselring was a trade throw-in 2 years ago. Now he is providing a solid 19 minutes a game.

A team getting one of these outcomes is doing well. Seems Az/Utah living improves blue line performance.
