Confirmed Signing with Link: [UTA] F Daniil But signs ELC with the Mammoth (3 years, $950k AAV)

Will be fun to see the big Russians in action. Sometimes from this side of the world it’s easy to put a system’s Russian prospects “out of sight, out of mind” - especially with no real international tournaments with Russia.

The Mammoth already are a young and improving team. Simashev and But are high end lotto pick first rounders that are physically mature and with big pro upside and coming as KHL champions, that’s quite an infusion of new talent.

It’ll be nice that they are crossing the pond as teammates, should help them settle, you would think.

He's 10 months older than Demidov and started his KHL career before Ivan. But in the NHL it's the other way round.

So according to how the NHL considers a player's age, he's 10 months younger than Ivan Demidov? :sarcasm:

Just messing with you.

Looking forward to see what this kid can do.

I really like their future... They cant do the mistake of signing Ehlers/Marner though! Duchene would be perfect on a 2 years deal in Utah.

Excited to see how Daniil But does in Utah, as he was tremdenous in the KHL last year and could be a long-term top-6er for the Mammoth.

The combo of reach, size, skill, and skating that But has is absolutely crazy, so I'm really curious to see how he does in the NHL.

But and Simachev have the European assignment clause that kicks in after 18 months.

So they will be in the US (either with the main club or Tucson) until then,

Movie about Utah signing two Russian prospects. As to rings, they of course mean Stanley Cup champion rings.

Simashev & But were the 2 guys I singled out as really wanting the Wings to draft at 9 & 17 that year (as well as Iginla the following year)

So, excited for them and will be rooting for Utah a bit.

Utah just need to send offersheets to Voronkov and Marchenko and they will have a team of big Russians
