As a sens fan this saddens me. This guy is a great human being. Unfortunately great human being isn't an NHL skillset.

Wish him all the best wherever he lands, always.
Always like this player. With Laine injury, maybe Habs could give him a try.He is a snipper.

GMs aren’t evil men. Many of these type of waivers, are to give players an opportunity to play in the NHL somewhere else. They’re definitely not in their current team’s NHL plans. So if Utah picks up Denisenko for example, it’s another chance he wasn’t going to get in Vegas.

It gives a new team the chance to see these players in games before having to make a decision. I’m a little surprised we haven’t see more players claimed in these early waivers, but teams have also spent all summer putting their own rosters together, they have their own tough decisions to make. So it’s tough unless they’re looking for a certain trait, like maybe a really good PKer, etc.

Janik has looked great for sens in preseason so far and has made a solid case for consideration as our 4C. Not sure if we should expect that to continue or if it's just the new team adrenaline bump.

Really hope socks can carve out a career somewhere. He's had success before and we're rooting for him.

Jenik was traded so he could have a chance at making a NHL team @ camp and not have to deal with the uncertainty of waivers. There was no way he would of made it on Utah's roster. He requested a trade a year ago and this is probably his best chance of making it happen.
Sokolov is just getting something (and he does make Tucson a better team) instead of losing JJ for nothing, and GMBA does care enough to try to give Jan his best opportunity to make it, some GMs actually do things like that!

I was impressed with Jenik in the game against the Leafs last week. He drove his line and was the main piece in that win against my Leafs.

Don't foreign players play on a special "athlete visa"? If they stop sports, they would be deported?
With a draft for an illegal war happening in Russia, methinks an asylum claim would be pretty simple.

Sokolov is a pretty well liked guy in Ottawa and Cape Breton. At worst he has a decent AHL career with some NHL stints. When he retires he'd make a great media guy or find work in either community.

If he wants to stay in NA it won't be a problem.

His best bet is to round out his game so that he can use his size in a physical checking role.

The league will expand again soon, which will create a need for another 46 NHLers. If he can play a more well rounded game, he making make the cut somewhere with every team losing a player or two to the expansion GTA-Hamilton Muskrats and the Mexico City Hot Stuffz.

A player with his frame and size, along with the skating deficiencies, is always going to be a late bloomer. There is still a chance he can crack the NHL.

Last summer he was giving interviews saying he had been studying Tage Thompson and Blake Wheeler. IMO that is his biggest problem by far.

If Sokolov realized he is not a Wheeler or Thompson when he was 18, he would at least be legit tweener at this point… rather than a PP-reliant AHL 2nd liner.

Sokolov’s chances will be helped if he is willing to stay in NA without an NHL job, but he needs to start seriously tailoring his game to a bottom 6 style.

Really didn't like the trade but Jenik fell into a numbers game on Utah.
