So basically one food writer had Chinese and claimed he had headaches from the MSG in Chinese food. Once his article received widespread publication restaurants started to ban MSG. There was no scientific basis for the fact. MSG is harmless. But restaurants didn't want to lose business so they just removed the MSG. Sadly that stereotype still exists today despite it having zero factual basis. It's just one example of how fearmongering and conspiracy theories people spread about what's in our food can affect products themselves. They basically cancelled a harmless naturally occurring compound like MSG because one person got "headaches".

Well, Sydney’s soap is an inferior product because it doesn’t contain any live cells (they would all have been dehydrated and killed during the harsh soap making process).
