Watched Home Alone last night.

I'm more familiar with the sequel, so it really stuck out how much of the plot is exactly the same between the two.

They're practically the same movie with some small details changed.

Yep.

Home Alone 2 is basically the original just with a bigger budget.

Kinda like how T2 is essentially just “The Terminator” retold with a gigantic Hollywood budget and state of the art special effects.
