USA, but it's a homer pick. Somehow I have a hope deep down the boys will come out with a chip on their shoulders and play like they can. But can they with this abysmal coaching and lack of a team game? I hope so.

Then again we are in quite a downward spiral.

The US is definitely the better team, but I have a feeling the US won't be as into this game as the Finns. I'm not trying to stir anything up or say the US doesn't have heart, but I think it will be like Canada in the 96 Olympics where we lost the bronze to Finland and didn't look into the game. The US team was very strong on paper as well as on the ice. Who knows how much that tie with the Swiss cost them. They could have beaten Canada and then had the days rest and the game against Finland. Instead, they had to play the Czechs and then the Russians. Too many games in too short a time.

Finland has improved game by game, and against Canada they were doing ok for the first two periods, even though the opponent was a much better team. Then they got tired in the 3rd period and Canada had no trouble getting the win. USA will not have any advantage about their schedule, they have played two games in two days too.

Finland has a good chance of winning this, it was already a tight match earlier between these two, which was decided mostly by a very bad ref. That will not happen again, you do not see that bad refereeing many times in one tournament...or in a few years even.

But of course USA has a more talented group, I just think the tactical game will favour the finns.

I look no farther then the 1998 Team Canada Olympic team - after a huge let down, a dangourous team like Finland can upset you.

The problems USA has are quite documented, and I don't think it should be a shock for it to spill onto the ice. After the way the game ended vs Russia, you could see the frustration boiling out in guys like Robbie Schremp. These guys were the favourite, so how do you think they'll react to playing for a bronze medel?

Oh yeah, and after tieing the Swiss, I don't think anything is out of the realm of possibility for USA.

I'd hit the brakes on the Switzerland issue, I hear Pogge didn't fair too well in that game. Shouldn't you be worried about the Russian drubbing you're about to take anyways?

Hopefully my prediction is more credible: 5-4 USA. Kessel with 2 goals. Schneider will be huge only giving up goals he had no control over. In that sense it will be a carbon copy of the game against Russia.

I would rather take a Russian drubbing and get a silver, then tie against Switzerland and have the possibility of losing to Finland and finishing out of the medals all together.

Trouble or no trouble, Canada and Pogge still beat the Swiss.

The states might wanna (using your words) hit the brakes on the individual efforts, or the thursday afternoon game may be a long one with the way Rask is playing right now. I am looking forward to taking my seat at GM Place and watching it all unfold.

The frustration sure showed tonite when the U.S. took a "Russian drubbing", they sure dont like to lose.............or shall i say "drubbed"

Very close. I think that Finland will be more motivated but the US simply has the better team. US in a close game.

Voted for Finland. They will enter the game fighting like lions. Although, unlike the US, they lack individual talent they will make up for that by playing a strong team game. Also, Rask has to be superb...

And anyway, I think it's your avatar that fooled me a bit, I remembered you were one of those predicting horrible numbers in the first USA-Finland game, but you were the guy who was just very patriotic in many threads and laughing at people when they were suggesting that russias defense is decent...wasn't it you who listed all the american defensemen and their draft numbers ?
